Don’t care how good of a prospect they are, I would never touch an Ohio State or Alabama QB in the top 10 of the draft, or even the first round for that matter. Let someone else break the trend of busts coming out of those programs first.

You just couldn't publicly say that before the draft because everyone hates him.

He could have been our cheap rookie qb to build around and we could have recouped a 2nd for trading down a few spots to get him. Then you have the money to sign Gilmore in horns absence.

I'm not mad because I understand the rationale behind the front offices move, and hindsight is always 20/20. Who knows, maybe Horn will become a generational talent. But until then, we continue to spin around the qb carousel until we hopefully find our franchise guy soon.

I get what your saying but we have cap regardless of the rookie QB. So if we get a QB this year or the next we are still in a good spot. Actually waiting is probably better cause DJ Moore, Reddick and Burns will all take new deals soon.

Horn I dont think needs to be generational to be worthy of his spot. The the modern NFL you need to stop the pass and you need plenty of CB's to do that. Its a really important position.

If we had Mac Jones, we'd already be calling him a bust because putting a rookie behind turnstiles is a recipe for disaster.

Article: Matt Rhule and the rest of the Panthers’ coaching staff had a chance to get an up-close and personal look at quarterback Mac Jones during the Senior Bowl in January.

While Rhule came away impressed with the former Alabama passer, the Panthers elected to trade for quarterback Sam Darnold and select cornerback Jaycee Horn at No. 8 overall.

Now Rhule will coach against Jones in Sunday’s matchup between Carolina and New England. He told Patriots reporters on Thursday that Jones handled everything well at the Senior Bowl and it took about 10 minutes to see he could be successful at the highest level.

“To me, no matter where Mac ended up, I knew he was going to be a longtime pro, because he just has all the right qualities and all the right things that are essential to being a great player,” Rhule said, via Zack Cox of NESN. “That was evident to me from the very beginning.”

Rhule noted that he’d spent some time trying to recruit Jones while at Baylor. And when Rhule coached Jones in January, he saw solid traits.

“He’s just got juice,” Rhule said. “Spending time with him, you could tell he loves football. He just won the national championship game and he’s out there practicing with us.

“You could see how intelligent he was the first day. We put a lot of install in, a lot of words in, just to see if they could recite it, and you could see pretty quickly he had a feel for the game. He had some moxie, and he was really, really intelligent and accurate and could throw the deep ball at a high level.”

Jones has piloted the Patriots to a 4-4 record, completing 68 percent of his passes for 1,996 yards with nine touchdowns and six interceptions.

Darnold, who may not play this week with a concussion, has completed 60.8 percent of his passes for 1,814 yards with seven touchdowns and eight interceptions.

I railed for us to take Jones before the draft. Everyone laughed, said he was the worst of the first round options out there.

We should have done that, then taken an OT in the second round (one of the good ones not Brady "Benchbait" Christensen), and then doubled down to take a guard in the third who wasn't toying with a heat induced heart attack all summer.

But heck, who listens to me?

Yes. The best way for a team to rebuild and win a super bowl is to organically grow things with new GM, HC and QB. The right trio will take you to the promise land. I had a feeling and still do think Mac will be the best QB from this class.

His shirtless pic that was used to mock him will have a similar usage to Brady's shirtless combine pic some day.

Only thing different I would have done was get a LT.

Fixing that OL is priority #1-4 next year. Should have been a much bigger one this year. QB is a need, but we got to get that lol OL squaredvaway first. (My phone autocorrected OL to lol and I thought it was accurate so I left it in there.)

I am satisfied that we picked CB Jaycee Horn this year instead of Mac Jones or another rookie QB.

In my opinion, Jones will not succeed to heights of the greats but becoming a starter in NFL is succeeding! How long it will last I don't know but I doubt he’s a household name or top 10 QB in the next 5 to 10 years!

-go back to 1996

-be persistent in asking Mary to homecoming...come to find out she was very friendly

-also let everybody know that the cops are coming at 0427 the morning after prom at the lakehouse

There's times when I wish I'd used my journalism degree to go into journalism - the industry is rife with absolute morons. Alas the money is terrible and I wasn't willing to brown-nose my way onto the ladder.

a reporter from the NE area who has seen a lot of Sam Darnold in recent years. 

and yes, the gameplan was 100% one of a team afraid of their QB imploding their teams chances of winning a game.  Like he had done repeatedly in recent weeks going into that game.
