Talk to me about the Patriots, what do you know?

Ugh.....now I am getting the feeling our defense will be facing some short fields.

That's what I was talking about. The offense is dragging on the defense, and national types and dummies won't even give it a thought. Hopefully our FO is a little more thoughtful. That being said, maybe our guy will have a clean game... Kenan Thompson Reaction GIF

Don't think we can "out-coach" the other team.

This is the biggest mismatch of the season, coaching wise. Our staff struggles tremendously with basic things and Belichick has this poo down to a science.

But....Ron Rivera didn't really have much trouble with Bill, so there is that.

It was the ample chest.  The hoodie couldn't handle the ample chest.

Also, if Rhule thinks other staffs have "done some things they hadn't shown on film"...oh boy just wait.

Sounds like we should run it until it doesn't work.

In a must-win game, New England’s defense pulled this team to a victory. Matthew Judon (nine pressures, 1.5 quarterback sacks) made Justin Herbert uncomfortable and it likely played a role in Adrian Phillips’ revenge pick-six. The Patriots allowed 143 rushing yards on 14 attempts to Austin Ekeler and Justin Jackson, resulting in the fifth game this season that New England allowed 120-plus rushing yards, something to keep in mind moving forward.

Can our defense confuse their rookie QB?

Can we shut them down completely?

Will we have to with PJ at QB (probably)?

Inquiring minds want to know.

We already know it will be a hard fought game because of the Pats secret weapon(refs) that will secure the game outcome with them on top with the win.

The New England Patriots are a professional American football team based in the Greater Boston area. The Patriots compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member club of the league's American Football Conference (AFC) Eastdivision. The team plays its home games at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, which is 22 miles (35 km)[5]southwest of downtown Boston. Along with the Carolina Panthers, it is one of only two NFL teams to represent multiple states.

Founded in 1959 as the Boston Patriots, the team was a charter member of the American Football League (AFL) before joining the NFL in 1970 through the AFL–NFL merger. The Patriots played their home games at various stadiums throughout Boston until the franchise moved to Foxborough in 1971. As part of the move, the team changed its name to the New England Patriots. Home games in Foxborough were played at Foxboro Stadium from 1971 through 2002 when the stadium was demolished in conjunction with the opening of Gillette Stadium. The team began utilizing Gillette Stadium for home games the same year.

The Patriots hold the records for most Super Bowl wins (6, tied with the Pittsburgh Steelers), appearances (11), and losses (5, tied with the Denver Broncos). Generally unsuccessful prior to the 21st century, the team enjoyed a period of dominance under head coach Bill Belichick and quarterback Tom Brady from 2001 to 2019. The Brady–Belichick era, regarded as one of sports' greatest dynasties, would see the Patriots claim nearly every major Super Bowl record. Other NFL records held by the franchise include the most wins in a ten-year period (126 from 2003 to 2012), the most playoff wins (37), the longest winning streak of regular-season and playoff games (21 from October 2003 to October 2004), the most consecutive winning seasons (19 from 2001 to 2019), the most consecutive division titles (11 from 2009 to 2019), the only undefeated 16-game regular season (2007), and the highest postseason winning percentage (.638).

The Patriots have a lot of similarities to the Panthers in stats and roster.

Each team’s pass defense is better than the run defense. They both have young QBs that struggle with turnovers at times. They both rely on the running game to move the offense. Both teams have turned the ball over 12 times on offense this season.

Where I give the edge to New England is obviously coaching experience but also talent on offense. Their offensive line is better than the Panthers and their weapons open up more things for Mac Jones in the passing game.

The Panthers get an edge in pass rush and pressure rate.

It’s a game that is going to come down to which team protects the football and gets their running game going. Having Darnold will make a big difference in at least showing the threat of passing the ball. The Patriots will stack the box if PJ plays and I expect him to turn the ball over 2-3 times.

I see a close hard fought game if Darnold starts. If Darnold plays a clean game the Panthers have a good shot at a win if the pass rush can rattle Mac Jones and they limit their running game. I expect a comfortable Patriots win if Walker starts. This isn’t the Lions, PJ.

They are well coached as always but have literally zero true threats on offense and their defense is average at best. All of their games except the Jets games have been close. I expect that trend to continue against us too. Thinking a game similar to the Falcons game, except the Falcons O is better than the Pats and if we're without Sam our O will struggle more. 13-10 Panthers win

Not sure we would see dramatic differences between PJ and Darnold against that pass defense. Historically, there are only two teams that Darnold has a worse career QB rating against(Eagles and Vikings). He also averages the third most TO's/game against NE at 2.67(also behind the Eagles and Vikings).

Of course, PJ has almost twice the career INT% that Darnold does.

Sooooo....run the ball. A lot.
