According to ESPN's box score for the game, Matt Ryan was 20/27 today with 2 INT's. That leaves 5 non intercepted, non completed passing attempts.

According to that same box score, our defense managed to defense 6 pass attempts.

Either ESPN is bad at math (likely) or somehow two of our players defensed the same thrown ball on the same play.

 

 

All jokes aside, I know this is only a single game, but consider this: Matt Ryan is a veteran QB who is widely regarded as good but not great.  Veteran NFL QB's have become so proficient that unless the defense makes a great play, they complete almost all of their passes.

Oh, I definitely agree.  I just find it interesting that over the years, the Falcons have spent so much draft capitol on their receiving corps, but don't have much to show for it.

It was probably pretty problematic for them we had the luxury and ability of putting a top 3 vet corner on Pitts….

Probably just as important to the victory as sticking with the run.  Pitts had really turned it on of late.

Gilmore erased Pitts. I loved seeing that.

Also, I think after today's announcement by Ridley, it's clear we made the right choice with DJ over Ridley in the draft. 

(That said, I hope Ridley gets all the help he needs.)

I mean. when they say the game starts doing this just adjust the receiver catch ability down a bit to bring the QB % back down to normal and what I've found is you want to increase the DEF PI slider to about 80 or so to get the QB to look downfield. Otherwise, they just seem to check it down all game.

I hope Ridley gets whatever help he needs, too. Even before this season I was happy with DJ over him...

Gilmore was great in his first game for us overall. Just picking up where he left off as an all pro, lol. Ifhe plays at this level all year I kinda doubt we can keep him, but we will see.

I mean....I am not gonna be upset if Ridley decides to sit the next game against us, as well. There are few players in the history of this series who have owned us like he has.

If he keeps playing like this we will surely keep him. He likes it here already. He may give us a hometown discount to stay. After all he has made millions already.  He is likely more interesting on whether he thinks we are a contender and he can start.
