It's not darnold...

That would mean @iamhubby1 would be wrong

Sheesh, he had Robby (who probably would have dropped it anyways) and DJ wide open on that play, but instead tries to force it into double coverage to our terrible TE.  Great decision making, Sam.

Yeah, the defense is still fun to watch. Maybe if Rhule takes over playcalling we can run the fug out of the ball and just simply not let Darnold fug it up for them.

All we really need to do is play the field position game and give our defense some rest.

Yeah, that would entail your OLine opening up holes for said run game....which they have not shown the ability to consistently do thus far.

What is Ellis trying to say here that we basically put 5 defenders into play here or that Darnold’s decision was terrible? I mean it’s not a good look to me when the play design brings a CB and S into the play because they can roll off their guy when the ball is thrown. I mean when the ball arrives there are 5 defenders within a 5 yard circle. That doesn’t seem like a good plan.

Exactly.  From where we are it's a chicken or the egg thing.  Is Darnold making the plays look bad or is the play calling being repetitive making Darnold (who already makes bad decisions) look worse.   Our offense looked bad last year and Teddy caught all the blame.  Hes looking pretty solid in Denver.  There is one thing that ties this years offense and last years offense together and it's not Darnold.

"Better" is a relative term.  Hard to be worse when you are dead last in one of them.

You know.....we aren't last in any pass blocking measurement available.

Sort of boggles the mind when you watch the team play. Maybe I will watch the teams below us this week just to see how bad it can get.

Have you watched Teddy in Denver much? Spoiler alert....looks a lot like he did here.

Yeah, ive seen the PFF numbers.  I still find it very hard to believe that there is any line out there worse than ours, especially at pass blocking. I feel really sorry for whatever QB is behind that line, because they don't have a chance.

I mean PBWR, DVOA, Adjusted Sack Rate, etc, etc. We aren't last in any of them. Trust me, I have checked.

Like I said, I want to see these other teams just to know how much worse it can be.

This is why I'm not jumping on Joe Brady's back about the offense. I'm not saying he isn't part of the problem but he's also working with one of the worst starting QBs in football.

Yeah, if we merely had a competent veteran, I'd be more inclined to start piling on Brady exclusively.

I agree he is PART of the problem, I just am unsure how much of it because Darnold is so terrible.

Yeah but whats a "competent vet" in your eyes?  Teddy B would probably fit that category, and we didn't exactly light the scoreboard up last year either.  Although it WAS dramatically better than the shitshow they're trotting out there for the last month.  I think there is plenty of blame to go around on all sides.

    • I think it will be hard to not go edge in the second if we go QB first. Say you have Starks, one of Bond/Egbuka, and maybe one Edge (don't have a name to throw out that is end of 1st round projected and may slide)... do you still go Starks? Just curious. I haven't looked into starks much, as I've been focused on QB, WR, and DL prospects.
