There are also QB injuries that will happen as well. Don’t underestimate the ego of an NFL coach who thinks he’s the right one for a player. Plus…Darnold has a ton going against him right now. CMC is out, OL is a sieve, WRs have brick hands. There is some OC Out there who will convince his GM it’s worth the pic to have him on the team.

What evidence has he shown that he'd be a capable backup?

At this point, I don't think he'd qualify to even be a team's Waterboy!  🤦‍♂️
