Just think. Terry Bradshaw said that we had our franchise QB and the best QB in our franchise history in Darnold. Somebody get that senile old bitch off TV!

He's hated Cam Newton for no reason for years. He should have been off the air a long time ago. He's only still there to appeal to other shitty people stuck in a bygone era just like himself.

A top 5 quality player still young they thought could be coached up to his potential with a good surrounding cast... The surrounding cast has failed and he needs way more coaching up if he isn't already broken..

Tom Brady is a 6th round quality QB.

Darnold stunk up the league for 3 years.  Where guys were drafted becomes irrelevant pretty quick.  We signed the worst starting QB to be our guy….and the results have played out extremely predictably.

Lol I would love to hear you spin this

Flacco is 37 years old QB past his prime. No spin needed... Would you be anger if we traded a 7th rounder for Steve Deberg or Kurt Waner?? Lol

You mad about trading for a old QB past his prime..lol

I love when ppl name the abnormal option and act like its normally happens and should happen that way...

Can you make a point where another 6th round QB won 7 Superbowl??

Sam is hot garbage and we gave up 3 picks and picked up his option. Nothing else really needs to be said.

1 pick ... I know you want to act like we didn't get those picks back.. But reality is all we end up giving up is 1 2nd round pick for Sam...

And I don't blame the effort nor do I think it was a crazy plan... It has worked before when a highly drafted QB goes to a different team and has a better career..

Favre, Young, Brees, and others...

Farve hot garbage in Atlanta,  Young and Doug Williams hot Garbage in Tampa..

the extreme was merely used to highlight the point.    Same point one more time.

say a team needs a WR today and signs Kelvin Benjamin.   You don’t get to now call him 1st round quality WR addition.  His draft position was thrown out long ago.  That’s not what he is.

Sam Darnold was the worst starting QB in the NFL over the last 3 seasons.  That’s what we added.   Not a top 5 talent.   Draft status becomes irrelevant once you put years in.

Favre has 4 pass attempts in Atlanta.   That’s not the same as bringing in Sam Darnold.

They saw a QB with a lot of physical talent

Unfortunately I don't think they accounted for the fact that he A) lacks the competitive drive that great QBs have (I'm not saying he doesn't work hard or doesn't love football, but he clearly doesn't have another edge to his attitude or game) and B) doesn't have the mental side of the game

Your extreme is the only time in NFL history and the luckiest poo to ever happen...

Add context to your point..

Coming KB was a first round talented player..

He didn't fail because he didn't have talent.. He failed because he likes buffets to much and didn't work on being a good football player...

Different story for Sam... Sam works hard he has talent he just not good... But it's not a bad move to find that out...

The risk reward factor that we thought in the offseason is still the same... Just because the results didn't work doesn't make it a crazy or horrible decision...

You can have revisionist history now and act like you was always against the move..

But reality was it was a low risk high reward move that didn't workout.. Its okay it happens  .

    • I'm not expecting it to happen, but we definitely need an upgrade at LB.  He fits the bill for sure
    • No, you're just flat out not comprehending what is going on, because if it was really how you think, more than only the first 2 players taken in the round would be signed right now.  Enough teams would just say screw it, it's not worth fighting with the agent over such a relatively low guaranteed cap hit. Your point about teams being afraid of spending that draft capital and not getting the player signed is also just asinine on the surface.  Because yes, the teams want to make sure the draft capital they used is on the field for them, but 2nd rounders fail more than they succeed in general.   If one holds out to try and re-enter the draft after a year off of football, they're tanking their career before it ever gets started and will fall further in that draft too.  Teams expect their 1st rounders to pan out, but they just hope their 2nd rounders do, it's why the pressure is on the team to sign a 1st rounder, but it's why the players have so much more to lose by holding out than the teams do for anyone after the 1st round. It's 100% about precedent, that's literally the only thing driving this right now, on both sides.  Again, if half the teams had signed them, or even a third of them, you might have a leg to stand on. But it's clear this has nothing to do with agent/team leverage at this point, it's about both sides trying to set a new precedent for contracts, and I don't see the agents winning this one on the whole.  Maybe a few more end up getting it, but I'd bet at least 20 of the 2nd round picks do NOT get a fully guaranteed contract.
    • Ideally my top 4 as well, but XL needs to prove himself to be a reliable target. I genuinely like the dude.  His ceiling is stupid high.
