Chuba Hubbard is a NFL starter

Oh, the drop off is pretty drastic but I agree that Chuba is starter quality. CMC is arguably the best all around RB in the NFL but it sure seems like he's becoming injury prone.

I don't think he's injury prone. I think he may know more about pro football than any of us here (growing up with his dad in the NFL and all) and he can tell bad coaching and a bad team as well as anyone.

I think he's making some business decisions, again, to ride out this season on IR as much as possible and hope for something to change. Stay at home with the girlfriend, do some modest workouts and rehab, cash checks and not throw your health away for inept coaching? Seems like a smart, Stanford-educated idea right there.

I mean, why Barry Sanders it?

Same thing for Thompson in my opinion. And I can't blame him, either.

Our WRs have been playing as bad as Darnald. Moore is the only one that can catch passes that are thrown directly at them. Passing lanes are not always going to be perfect. Especially with our line but if it hits your hands you should catch it.

The WR's are much less of a problem that our bottom of the NFL QB play(and bottom 5 OL play).

They are largely mirroring the poo around them.

You can't fake a hamstring tear - they'll MRI it and monitor it constantly.

I really think Chuba is good enough to start in this league and do very well. The drop off from McCaffrey really isn't all that drastic. Most of the problem is that Chuba is open on the check down but Darnold would rather throw a pick down field.

And when he does check it down it's an inaccurate ball where our receivers have to do a pirouette just to get their hands on the ball and the result is no YAC at all.

Nope, not accusing him of faking it. I would say he's smartly taking his time on getting back and getting fully healthy again.

This coaching/management regime isn't going to inspire anyone to Jack Youngblood it and play in the Super Bowl with a broken leg, yanno?

As a RB yes, as a receiver out of the backfield the drop is pretty large.

I can't wait for the "PJ Walker Is An NFL Starter" after we lose 27-0 and he goes 11-34 for 127 yards and 2 INT

I'd rather lose next week with PJ than with Sam.  Everything is last season on repeat....much only worse.  Last season got to the point, I preferred to lose with PJ than Teddy.

It guarantees the staff has to move on from the starter.  Teddy then.  Sam now.  The PJ mantra has never been about PJ being the starter.  Just displacing the pointless QB the team insisted on riding with and forcing the front office's hand going into the next year.

    • He can say what he feels, but he's not saying "the previous year, the team wasn't very good" he directly called his teammates out and in a way that is flat-out not true. "You are your record"? Oh ok, he's only had 3 winning seasons, but in my mind he isn't a loser, and I bet he isn't in his either - cause football is a team sport and wins and losses are on the team, even when one really bad player (Jimminy Pickles) can basically screw over everything.  And this comes on the heels of his thing about the MVP, which is fine, but also selfish. His teammates consistently went to bat for him... Just feels like he's more about himself.
    • Good point--I think this draft is great for us at this time--At the top of the draft, the DT (DEs/NTs in 3-4) are loaded.  The Edges are deep.  We need to double dip there--hoping to move back so we can add three players to that pool.  In free agency, if I were Morgan, I would focus on DBs and  ILB--fix the back end of the defense.  If he signed a S, CB, ILB, and TE, it would be cost effective.  In the draft, DE, Edge, and WR should be the priorities.  After that, OL Depth, QB depth, DB depth, RB depth.  My Free agent Targets:  TE: Juwan Johnson, Saints.  29, had over 500 yards with Saints. S: Julian Blackmon, Colts.  He will be one of the top free agents--gonna cost us, but not like an edge or WR. ILB: Tyrel Dodson, Dolphins.  80 tackles on just 854 snaps--under 27 years of age. CB: Mike Jackson, Carolina.  He is 28 and had 3 picks and was on the field at all times.  68 PFF score. NT:  best available for Evero's system.
