Honestly I never heard of him before he was hired. Had no idea he was supposedly a hot commodity until after he was hired. 
But like you said I am also asking why? He had some success in college, but did nothing to deserve a head coaching job.

He revived Baylor from near death to be fair, but it's fuging Baylor. Nobody gives a fug about Baylor they are like the Wake Forest Demon Deacons of Texas FFS.

No clue. He only beat two top 25 teams in his entire college career and those two teams were barely ranked ECU and Navy teams that disappeared from the rankings after losing to Temple before ending up .500ish teams. He never best a ranked team at Baylor.
