When did you give up on Matt Rhule?

Nothing was wrong with winning that game last season. We dropped a few spots, but at #8, but it doesn’t appear that the franchise was set back for years to come by not getting Wilson or Fields. We don’t have enough tape on Lance, but he isn’t a sure bet to be a success either.

As you pointed out, LT is almost as important as QB. After dropping to #8, we still had a shot at The left tackle Slater. We also passed on several tackles and interior lineman in round 2. I don’t know what happened internally, but We could have kept Bridgewater another season to see how he would do with an improved oline, a healthy CMAC, and another year in Brady’s system and plan to move on for him by drafting a successor in 2022 which was the last year of his deal.

The TMJ pick was terrible considering other needs at the time.

And those teams kept sucking usually and don't get the right coach until years later.. While teams with patience and consistency usually give more then a year and half...

This is getting crazy.. Didn't everybody here understood this wasn't going to be pretty year 2.. This is still a rebuilding year right?? How many of you thought this was a finished team??

We didn't expect the offense to look worse than it did a season ago when we legit had the pandemic as an excuse.

Definitely didn't expect it to look like the worst in the league.

The defense is actually really fuging good and I stand by my statement that it’s a championship type defense and they are extremely young. Some of y’all do not understand how insanely bad offenses have an affect on a defense. When your offense turns the ball over 2 to 3 times a game and can’t sustain drives you cannot expect a defense to hold all game. Those championship caliber defenses that won Super Bowls had strong run games and methodical offenses. Seattle, Ravens, ect s. They don’t turn the ball over, they sustain drives to keep that defense fresh. You cannot do what this offense is doing and expect them to be dominant. It’s complimentary football. You put someone like DW caliber of quarterbacking on this team and it changes over night.

No, I understand football. And I understand the offense's part in giving the defense a good shot. Our defense has been found out. And just like how Buddy Ryan's 46 defense kicked butt until it was figured out, the Snow Job defense has been figured out.

We did well during the first quarter, but they just moved on us after that. Our defense, however, is quite a bit more effective than our offense, but that's just comparing rotten apples to questionable oranges.

Defense is fine.  You leave them on the field with no offense….and yeah, they eventually give up points.   That’s not a defensive problem.  It’s horrific offense bleeding over.

For the first three games our defense ruled the whole game, or at least three quarters of it.

And then Dallas came to town with the blue print on how to beat us. We haven't won a game since and other teams have been marching on us at will, including the Giants yesterday. The Vikings just kept having their way with us throughout the game. The Eagles, the freaking Eagles, just ate our lunch.

No, the Snow Job is just about as bad as the rest of the game.

Defense held the Giants to 5 points at the half that's a baseball score.

We went for it on 4th down at like our own 25 yard line and failed to convert you can't keep putting your defense in that position and think can win the game for you.

The defense has been getting worse and worse each week. Holding the Giants to 5 points in the first half is pretty much what every team they've played has done. They were roundly considered one of the three or four worst teams in the league. They are riddled with injuries along the line, have a questionable QB and their star RB is out. (Sound familiar?)

Our defense balled out the first three weeks against bad teams. We threw a defense out there that was somewhat novel and caught some of the other bad coaches by surprise. Dallas pulled us apart and we lost Shaq Thompson. Haven't shown any real dominance since then.

betting on him turning it around and having him under contract for another season, vs. letting him dangle and demand a huge contract extension

if you're bringing him in you obviously think he's going to rebound

that was just a logical move

It wasn't. Logic would have dicated never making that trade at all. What huge contract extension do you see in his future? What huge contract extension did you see after three seasons with the Jets?

He is the same player he was and has always been. Only a team like ours would have picked up that 5th year or made that trade for him. That's why he was very available when we called.

They fleeced us, plain and simple. The worst part is anyone could have seen why to avoid that trade, yet that braintrust did not.

The only two games you can say the defense hasn't played well enough to get us a win if we had a competent offense would be the Dallas game and to a lesser intent the Vikings.

We were up 15-6 on the Eagles midway into the the 3rd quarter when our offense and special teams decided they wanted to play give away.

The first 3 weeks the defense was putting up historic numbers, I don't think anyone expected that type of dominance to remain for the entirety of the season that would have put us statistically as the best defense of all time.

What we needed was for our offense to step up and let our defense get after some folks but instead the last few weeks we've played defenses ranked much worse than our own and they have looked like the better defense on the field because our offense is just that inept.

Adrian Peterson once set the single game rushing record against the best rushing D in the NFL.  Bad games. Happen.  Did they play great against Dallas? No.   But you are going to have those every once in awhile.

the D played great against the Eagles.  They set up a blowout early for an average offense.   You leave any NFL defense on the field all game with zero offense......things will get bad evetnually.  That was the case for our D vs the Eagles and Giants.

Did we give up some plays agasints the Cowboys and Vikings? Yes, and that is going to happen vs really well built offenses that feature a good QB, good RB, and multiple good WRs.   The league is designed for them to win.

The defensive part of the blame for our struggles is probably 10ish percent. A lot of that can be directly tied to injuries.

Yet....they are still a top 10 unit in the NFL. The core of our problems were our two biggest question marks heading into the season, OL and QB. Those things are responsible for probably 80% of our TEAM struggles.

Now given roughly 1.5 seasons of information and considering the situation our franchise is in....the REAL bulk of the blame lies squarely with David Tepper and Matt Rhule.

Tepper took a big, risky, EXPENSIVE gamble on a college coach with little NFL experience. The guy he picked has the  final say on personnel decisions. So, Matt Rhule is to blame for the QB situation we have been in for the past two seasons, starting and backup. Matt Rhule is to blame for the poor free agent acquisitions on the offensive line. Matt Rhule is to blame for the poor draft decisions in ignoring obvious roster holes on the offensive line.

Exactly once a team knows your offense can't move the ball or score they start calling the game differently taking shots that they may not have without the fear of a turnover or mistake costing them.

You hold a team to 5 points at the half, they should be playing from behind not sitting comfortable with a lead. All the Giants needed to do is point 1 more score on the board and that game was practically over.
