How much are you actually blaming the defense and offense for the last 3 losses ?

gents, I posted this on a Jet forum.  It was about the Jets OCs who said he took a hard look at himself during the bye ... This is my response.

what is it with these coaches.  Your scheme based on the personnel is not working as designed.  Get it!  Adjust the scheme to what fits with the skill set of your players... it is that simple.

Carolina is going through the same dam thing with their OC...  Both of these guys seem to think that better execution will fix everything - and to an extent it will but you need the horses - yet fail to recognize the limitations of their players.

If I made the mistake of hiring either of these guys I would have set the expectations up front, i..e, I want to be a quick passing team that uses PA for longer chunk plays, or I want to be a physical run team, etc.  When they failed to deliver, I would have pulled them aside and clearly stated that what they are doing is not working and they need to adjust... if they did not, I would fire them.  This is how I managed 300mm business... no BS, no excuses, perform of get out!

What we have with both teams is NO O identity, period, and that falls squarely on the HC who should have defined it and seems  to have deferred it to their OCs...

So maybe it not just our OC or theirs it maybe a problem with the HC....

It does feel like the Panthers offensive identity is "boy genius OC", which hasn't worked so well.

I think the fact our primary back with CMC injured has trouble catching the ball is really, really hurting our scheme.  He has dropped an astonishing 26% of passes thrown his way.

Hopefully the focus on the run will help.

    • Bryce put it in a spot only his guy could get it only for David Moore to drop it. T_T Tremble and Horn both struggled yesterday and that killed me since they're two of my favourite players. Tommy knows he has to come down with this one. Folks were understandably saying that JT would've caught that had he not gotten hurt a few plays earlier. The more I look at this play, the more I think that Bryce made the right decision throwing it out the back of the endzone. He could have tried to laser it in to Thielen, but that safety is lurking awfully close inside. Insuring the field goal here after a 44sec drive to end the half was the right move.
    • Except Bryce was the main reason we were in it
    • NFL Pro has the All-22 up already 😄 Going to grab a play or two from each redzone series to put screenshots to. Looks like AT angled his route off to the near pylon rather than the back corner where Bryce was throwing to. I imagine this is something they'll quickly try to figure out with Thielen back from IR. After watching the All-22 again, this was actually a pretty nifty play. I thought it was a TE screen to Tremble because of the way XL charged the DB, but he quickly shed and kept upfield as seen in the second screenshot. This looks like it had multiple layers built into it with AT running the crosser, XL the fade, Tremble to the flat. The progression would call for the play to go to Chuba here as the LB does follow Tremble out into the flat. Ball hits Chuba low and in the hands, but the LB does a good job disrupting the catch.
