More Illuminating Stats/Context On What's Happening With Sam and Robby

DJ Moore has been an absolute beast on the year.

this overall is just a Robby Anderson issue.

And the fact we paid him so heavily is impacting IMO the ability for the rookies to get the reps they should be getting.   Rhule and company overpaid Anderson and he just isn’t what his one year anomaly season suggested …and here we are.

DJ is doing well...I agree...but hes not impacting the game.... he gets his catches. He really acts low keyed..and Robby....Hes got me all pissed off...maybe its cause Sam is throwing to both of them...like up in NY..

DJ is having some big time catches.  Darnold and he aren't always connecting tho.

Robby is a different issue...

I've seen people say this a couple times so I wanted to point out why this is a bad take from his season-by-season numbers.

Remember, Darnold missed a total of 6 games in 2018 and 2019; so, by the hypothesis that the Robby was more productive without him would suggest we could look at those 6 games to get an idea on if this is true, or perhaps something else pushed Robby's production down in 2018/2019.  Take a wild guess what the data shows?

Robby without Darnold in 2018: only 2 games played, 6 catches for 70 yards, 11.67 yards/reception, 0 TDs

Robby with Darnold in 2018:  12 games, 44 receptions for 682 yards, 15.5 yards/reception, 6 TDs

Robby without Darnold in 2019: 3 games, 8 receptions, 102 yads, 13.50 yards/reception, 0 TDs

Robby with Darnold in 2019: 13 games, 44 receptions for 671 yards, 15.2 yards/reception, 5 TDs

Sure with such a small sample it is hard to say for sure if Darnold really was driving Robby down, but the Jets team from 2017 to 2018 was pretty different, and not just in terms of starting QBs. Plus, his yards/reception didn't actually go down from 2017 to 2018 or 2019 (all 3 were 15ish) - that didn't happen until 2020 with Bridgewater when it dropped to 11.5 (and fwiw it is a bit higher this year with Darnold).

So are you leaving out the fact that Robbie was coming back from injury in one of those 2018 games and was on limited snaps? Take away that game and he had 4 catches for 48 yards which was around his per game average with Darnold. So with a journey man QB in Mccown he put a little less yards and about the same in receptions.

Even then his numbers were still better without Darnold, and what good is yard per reception of you can’t even crack 800 yard marker. I’m willing to be Robby was happier with his roll in with Teddy than with Darnold.

4 catches for 48 yards is 12 yards per reception which is 3 fewer yards per reception than with Darnold.  Not to mention we see the same pattern in 2019...

He may have been happier in the offense last year but blaming Darnold doesn't fit the data we have.  Brady is the one calling the plays and routes...

Excepts it fits all the data. Congrats his yards per re emotion go up but all his other numbers suffer.

Now it’s Brady fault Darnold can’t get the ball to Robby lol. Even the “drops” are all bad ball placements.

RBs look good considering the OL talent.

DJ balling

Ian Thomas finally showing something.  Tremble looking decent for a rookie being worked in.

rookie WRs look good when we rarely see them.

it’s basically the two guys the Jets didn’t want struggling the most.  It’s almost like the most painfully obvious answer is the right answer.  That we shouldn’t of built the core of our O with parts from the NY Jets…

Frankie Luvu would like a word with you.

Then he can f*ck right off to Denver to be with his BFF then.
