Steve Smith said the reason for the drops was cause they were hospital balls, Chris Simms also eluded to it.

So a third of the time he's 'hurried' when our entire passing game is three step hitch and get the ball out?

Yeah, zero problems with the Oline there then! 🤣

Zero problems? I said it was “serviceable” at best. It’s nearly the same line Teddy had last year. They aren’t good, but neither is Darnold. He’ll do good to throw more TDs than INTs at this rate. He had issues at USC, same issues at NYJ, and now the same here. Three step hitches and release for our entire offense? Oh good then Darnold should be one of the top at getting rid of the ball right? He is not in the lower half of the league at holding on to the ball right?

Ok,, normally you Huddlers  are posting video of how bad the line is or an amazing sack etc..

Where's all the video of the dropped passes.  I too believe there was more than 7-8 dropped passes,,  I believe even if it was on first or second down they hurt a potential drive,  and Darnold missed receivers in the game, but when you have that many  drops , they're demoralizing to a QB and O'line that struggle.

Some one post the drops please

I was like it's gotta be trolling to say that Darnold is better than Tyrod Taylor. Clearly I haven't been one of the hardest ones on Darnold here but ffs you kidding me

Tyrod is a 32 year old back up that's a game manager.

He's as conservative as Teddy.

I want a gambler. I want a guy that's going to walk up to the hot chick at the bar take her away from the guy she's with and bang her.

Not the chump who's too afraid to look at her.

I really, really do not give a flying fug how our QBs act in bars as long as they win games and lead the offense.

Frankly Tyrod has a better history of that than Darnold and even at his age we'd be more likely to win with him next year than Darnold.

But I also would rather we find a young signal caller that we can build around long term.  Think this staff is capable of evaluating QBs well enough to do that?  Because I'm not sure.

Oh yea he's not the future. He was the only reason Houston won and then competed in the games earlier in the year after everyone thought HOU was going 0 for like they said about the Jags but then HOU looked like a real team with him at QB.

He is the type of QB that could win with a roster and is more of the better mix of TB and Darnold as he doesn't turn the ball over and scores. We likely still need a QB even with Darnold as he probably is only here another year unless it does end up clicking which it looks like it won't more than it will and I've been on the OL first side of the conversation.

I think the question was which QB could do better that would be available and Taylor is better even at both their best, he has injury history and a lot of that is crazy ass poo. Best thing for the team though is if Darnold just works out and morphs into a consistent QB.

I don’t think Sam Darnold is a gunslinger.  I think he is merely a good overall athlete that isn’t a good QB.    Some have called him a gunslinger…and used that interchangeably with the fact he makes bonehead decisions.

Tyrod is better than Sam.  It’s not Tyrod being overrated or anyone else.  It’s Sam being overrated.  And he looks exactly like the dude who played in NY to date.   He isn’t even on pace for his best season….that’s how you know he is the same dude.   And all his primary issues existed before NY touched him.

What other choice do we have? It's either hope his crappy play changes or tune out for the rest of the season. No one is going come off the bench to save us.

Better put your big boy pants on if you are going to follow this team. Or you can take your toys and go home. The rest of us faithful will see you in the offseason.

And he calls ME a Non-Panthers fan.   What a joke.

The drops dont fit their narrative. In their little world we are going to get a QB and rebuild our OL with the few draft picks we have remaining.

Some of the drops were hospital balls but many were not. There were something like 10+ drops of which 8 were catchable according to PFF (not finger tip catches) and multiple ended/would have ended drives from what I saw.  The 4th quarter drops only didn't end drives because of 4th down.

Hell DJ dropped a TD that may have changed the outcome, and I love DJ.  Something was off with our guys all game.

Yep. There were a couple of hospital balls but there were no shortage of just outright drops too.

You know...I went back and watched the one "Hospital Ball" that led to Vilma making his "Business Decision" comment on DJ.

And I can't help but notice that DJ was concentrating more on trying to catch the ball than thinking about the defender rushing up at him.

Here, take a look :

It seemed like to me that it wasn't until AFTER he dropped it did he see the defender coming at him.

So I think it was more a case of him just dropping the pass than this so-called "Business Decision".

    • The other draft picks have turned out pretty well. Brooks will too.
    • I'm still not touching Hunter He again said the other day that he plans on playing both sides of the ball in the NFL.  If he is allowed to do that, he won't be as good on either side as his potential and he's going to have serious injury issues and have a short career.  If he's not allowed to do it, I think he's going to become a problem when the team isn't winning as he's going to feel him not being used on both sides of the ball is why. He's being coddled in that environment with Deion and I think it's doing a disservice to him to prepare him for life in the NFL where your coach isn't a 2nd father to you, to where you can just walk into his locker room and steal his shoes like Hunter does to Deion.
    • He’s a tad behind them. Around 15ish of 32 starters in the league. He’s well ahead of a lot of guys. Tua, Bryce, Cousins (present), Rodgers (current), Devito/Jones, Minshew, Russ (current), Watson, Smith, Carr, T Laws deep ball is weak as poo IMO, there’s plenty. And it’s not like everyone is ripping 60+ers. The key component is if you can rip and maintain velocity of the 30-40 yarders which he does super well. Legit every report out there from Brugler to PFF to PFN document him as good/above average arm strength.  Eye test tells me it’s pretty much that as well, slightly above average.
