How are the FA G/C looking this offseason? I wouldn’t be against paying up for one or two and drafting a QB. I know people won’t like this, but we can sign/trade DJax for draft capital too. Henderson should be getting healthy, Taylor looks good, and Horn will come back. We might sign Gillmore to a longer deal too…

This is the problem, people keep making excuses for him. 

Several of us posted stats during the offseason that a lot of people just chose to ignore.

Historically with a CLEAN pocket he has been bad, very bad.

If you QB can't play well when things go right, that is a bad sign.

Again I've been mulling this reply and outside of maybe getting Russell Wilson or Gardner Minshew I don't see anyone with arm talent out there. 

I don't think they can bring in Watson.

I know and in reality we tried to be bold and get Matt Stafford, but he brushed the Panthers off. Free Agents will need to want to come here.

Sam looks bad because the offensive line is historically bad.

Quality quarterbacks don't want to play here because the offensive line is historically bad.

It's almost like there's a single, precursor issue we need to resolve if we want to see improved quarterback play.

He isn't to blame for the drops. The hospital balls(he threw two) he is to blame for. But, that goes back to his processing difficulties. He isn't to blame for the shitty blocking. He isn't to blame for the shitty playcalling.

But, he is still the second biggest issue on that side of the ball.

I doubt anyone with half a brain would dispute that.

That’s what he did to DJ to open up the came.  Was throwing him into the S.  

and then you end up with WRs knowing Sam isn’t good enough to protect them.   Which is what Tom Brady talks about. 

Darnold didn’t have a good game and he was a contributing factor in some for the drops.  Not all.  But clearly some.   Especially 2 of DJ’s.

Anyways, it’s looking like we’ll be looking for a QB again this upcoming offseason. Sam has processing issues, and he’s not as accurate as some would like you to believe. The same folks who would complain of holding onto the ball, accuracy/timing issues of our past QBs, are really seeing that now. Sam isn’t the only problem facing this team, but he’s one of the bigger issues. We absolutely would be foolish to give him 3 years. This is his 4th year in the league, and it’s clear he’s not getting it. It’s not clicking. Best to move on.

Everyone likes to look for a singular person to blame when things go bad but that isn't how it works.

Pass hits receiver in hands, should receiver be expected to catch it?  Of course.

but

Over the course of a season an accurate QB is going to have less drops than an inaccurate QB ,if everything else is equal, because the accurate QB is making it easier on his receivers.
