Darnold is not going to automatically change into a great QB overnight. That takes the proper support and preparedness. This staff is not showing us that they are competent in that regard yet. 22 games in and they still lose the same way. Wins leave a lot to be desired. Coaching is this team’s problem. We have a GM trying to patch together a roster. Yes we didn’t go all in on the OL but he took Rhule’s word and went with what they had. He at least resigned Moton. We will be better in the future. Just not now. I just hope we aren’t burdened with Brady next year and have an actually OC that can get plays in and not waste clock. Have receivers run the same remedial routes over and over. Put their fragile QB in no win situation after no win situation. Build up a Defense that’s expected to score more points than the offense. Rhule has a lot of explaining to do. Brady has a lot of apologies to make. The WR coach needs to be slapped up in the next coaches meeting or fired if this ever happens again. We will be fine but not this year, barring a crazy miracle.

Routes were fine today. Their hands were lacking. Brady doesn't need to say sorry for the play calling. Outside of his most ridiculous critics here once people calm down they will see guys were open which is what his job is...scheming so people are open... but the boys just had an awful game catching the ball or hanging onto it.

CMC fixes some of the issues. We needed check downs more readily available. When we had check downs, they were dropped. Several plays where all receivers were still mid-route and our offensive line had let 100% of pass rushers through.

My fear is they are asking Darnold to be something he is not.  He is a gunslinger the coaches don’t want to sling the ball.  If they want a game manager they should have stuck with Teddy.  Right now we are getting the turn overs without explosive plays.  I know the OL is part of it, but Darnold looks very scared to let it rip.

I think he's shown promise. His last drive brought joy and hope to my heart. He was never going to become an all-pro overnight. I suspect that by the end of the season we'll know if he's worth going forward with or not. I noticed when he was really impressive during that last drive, he had much more time to set his feet and make his reads. Best case scenario is he stays on the right track and we get to draft/acquire offensive linemen instead of chasing a QB.

Oline can't pass block.

OC can't or won't call more plays to put his QB in a better position to succeed.

QB making bad plays behind a bad oline and bad playcalls.

Fix any of these things and we are in a much better position to excel.

I also think that losing a shut down man CB (in Horn) along with trouble stopping the run has really hurt us in our blitz packages.
