Injury or Not: Why Godfrey Should Not get the Start at FS

While I agree for the most part. I am worried that Martin will remeber that he's a rookie. I mean he's just started the Nfl and is in a new position. I just keep thinking he's eventaully going to hit a slump and cost us big plays. Similar to godfry last year.

but he has already made more plays this year, than godfrey did all of last year, he is already better. Even if he does nothing the rest of the year, he will have still done more than Godfrey ever did.

well, Martin is acutally in his natural position.....Carolina was trying him in a new position originally.

How about waiting until Fox actually does put Godfrey back in there before you accuse him of being an idiot for it? Is that really so hard to do? I doubt anybody here would appreciate being called an idiot for something they haven't even done. Not to inject logic in the conversation or anything....I know how some folks hate that.

However, now there is more tape on Martin that defenses will try to exploit. It isn't about numbers. If defenses find a way to exploit him for big pass plays, then it doesn't matter how many INTs and tackles he has.

I think Godfrey has already been exploited. Especially against Arizona in the playoffs, the same QB that Martin picked off twice.

that's the thing. Martin has experience at the position. Godfrey would find himself out of position and teams would capitlize on that.....Martin is where he is suppose to be at a higher rate.....which limits opportunity in his area.

You guys are brutal. Godfrey played CB at Iowa, we convert him to safety, has a great first year, and is having a so so 2nd year, and you guys are ready to throw him to the wolves???? That is not an easy transition from CB to safety, much less in the NFL. He has talent, but maybe he is being exposed a bit this year. He has god given talent and needs to learn from this and I expect he will. I was happy when we drafted him and I still am.

Martin has done well so far. But don't kid yourself into thinking he isn't making mistakes or teams aren't going to try to find his weaknesses. If Martin doesn't get better each week, he will end up being no better than Godfrey.

of course. all rookies make mistakes. and so do vets. but he is better than Godfrey.

Incorrect.

Martin has gone off the last 3 games. You'd have to be an idiot to put our biggest weakness in our starting defense back in when his replacement has the numbers of an all-pro through 3 games.

Jake Delhomme still has his Job right? Godfrey will be on the field when health. You never lose your Job with Fox till you cant make it on the field.
