He looked ready in the preseason If they're worried about penalties Moton had 2 for 20 yards when they tried to play him at LT, Rhule is DBO'ing himself

Yep, Im with many others on this..... How can he be worst than whats out there currently? Again if he is, cut him and find upgradeS... Rookie and alll that, missing blocks, snap count blah balh balh...... Miller and Daley are going to place Darnold on IR themselves, how can Brown play worse with the bar at earths center?? IDKAF about his weight so long the job gets done. Like you said in PS he looked fine, even pancaked a couple and looked STRONG. At bare min, rotate him with miller/daley on gameday and prove it to everyone. Holy fugup Rhule.....

He keeps stressing their versatility, able to play multiple positions. WTF good does that do when they suck at all of them?

Rhule still believes that the NFL is like college where he can coach and develop mediocre players to perform better than they really are.

Well I'm glad you asked. Suppose you have a guy that really sucks at Left Guard, but he goes down with an injury. If you have a guy that can suck at BOTH Left Guard and Right Guard, then you just plug that guy in and you're good to go. But if the replacement can only suck at Right Guard, well, now you've got problems.

And it's not like it was unpredictable. Same situation as Teddy, Whitehead, and maybe even Sam - guys with years and years of consistent film don't tend to magically become something they've never been. Some years I guess it works like in 2013, but even then guys like Mitchell, Mikell, and Florence had put some quality play on film. Hopefully one or more of these high risk/reward additions still works out.

I don't mean to sound like a negative Nancy here. It's just a scenario Carolina fans, and fans across the NFL really, have seen play out many times. Meanwhile, Riley Reiff is seemingly doing OK over there in Cincy... would've been great to nab him.

Rhule thinks that he is in college where he can still develop bad players to play better. Riley Reiff? You mean that guy we chose Matt Kalil over and then again pass on him for Erving?

I think it was a good honest answer. Basically said that at minimum they figured they'd be solid versatile backups and they recognized offensive line was a position of need and wanted bodies so they didn't feel desperate to reach for them in the draft. We can complain all we want but offensive line in general is seriously lacking in available talent. Not too many gems that reach free agency. They're either too old, too injured or just not good.

So OL is a position of need and we didn’t want to reach for one? We didn’t have to reach. We had the 8th pick and we could’ve had any OL we want other than Sewell.

Yeah, the body language and untimely gulp were extremely telling.  But also, I am fuging tired of hearing about Deonte needing to slim down...  he's a fuging guard.  He's a road grader with good feet...  let him fuging play.  Miller is slimmer and he's getting his ass whooped every Sunday like nobody's business.  Come off of it already, Rhule...  play the kid.  Play Brady, and when Elflein gets healthy, play him at center, because this current shitshow ain't it and it's currently on track to derail any possible success we can achieve this season.

I’m tired of hearing it too. Rhule should lose some weight himself before always talking about Deonte’s weight.

    • They gave him franchise QB money. Sorry but if you don't earn it you can be embarrassed.   He's rich he can take it. Stop feeling sorry for people who can't live up to their contract. This isn't a sport to be soft. Daniels deserves to give back some of that money he stole if you ask me.
    • And it was coming off of a bye week. Perhaps he should vacation a bit in Germany in the off season, something certainly seemed to help him there.  No, really... He showed maturation and the possibility that he's turning a corner. That wasn't the NY Giants out there, but the back to back Super Bowl champions with the #3 defense in the league, with them coming off of a prime time loss. And that was a 9-1 team we just played literally down to the last second. Bryce played so well that maybe, maybe he wins over some nay-sayers. It's still early, though, but what a nice breath of fresh air that was. You can win quite a few games if that is your normal performance. It is obvious that we are still on the learning curve, though. But that was one helluva test he just took. Some of these QBs coming out of college just don't have a lot of games under their belts, especially in top end programs. They are perhaps just a year to two years behind center in games that matter before they move up. It can take them some time to hit their stride. We can still be cautious about our future and still celebrate a great game by the kid, though, and we should. He earned the laurels today, or had before they were snatched away at the last second.
