I agree with this. Florida is going to be tough to beat. But they can’t keep that group together much longer so the hurricanes window might open a little wider. My problem is the series should have looked the way it did in games 4 and 5. From the second period of game 1 thru 3 were an abysmal effort and the players just looked defeated. I was very disappointed in the overall effort until games 4 and 5. I think it’s very fair to ask if Rod is the right man for the job right now. If they’d gotten swept again and they lost game 4 like 5-0, id say he might need to go. But I think the team bounced back enough to give him another year with the front office going all in to bolster the roster. Failure to reach the finals with a full push to build the roster to win now, Rod goes next offseason, and the team focuses on retooling around their younger players. -

The team had a great season all things considered and definitely overachieved. I don't think many of us had our expectation level set at deep playoff run after the 2nd Rantanen trade. With the current league format, someone has to come out of the Metropolitan division. Look at the teams we have to climb over to get to the ECF. It's not exactly a division that's full of contenders. Smack around the Islanders and the Devils and now you're in the ECF against the survivor from the better division.
