Brady and a solid offensive line

The last two days worth of threads and knocks on Joe Brady were expected and I contributed as well. Well my emotions have settled a little bit. Brady definitely has let us down as a fan base with his play calling based on the current situation of having a below average offensive line. However, I started to think about how much of his playbook is in the trash due to the poor performance of the offensive line, and what it could look like if we had an average to above average offensive line.

I think my question would be... If we had an offensive line that could give #14 .5-1 more seconds, are we looking at an entirely different playbook on Sunday? Is Joe Brady just bad because of his o-line? Have we ever seen a successful OC in the NFL with this kind of offensive line?

For those who are gonna state that we neglect the oline. Rhule and Co. elected to build the D first, we are feeling that. Im afraid the reverse of this situation would be much worse. I appreciate the build a strong D model and then build a strong offense (See Bills and Tampa). If we go another off season of ignoring the o line, then yes... raise the red flags. However, hearing our GM state "I am on the phone looking for offensive lineman" that should be encouraging.

I've talked about Brady in a couple of threads today already.

No, he isn't the Sean Payton clone that we believed he'd be. That doesn't necessarily mean he won't be good though.

My most common statement on him is that he's way better at play design than he is at playcalling and game management. A big part of that is that regardless of how smart he is, he's inexperienced, and sometimes it shows.

That's not something you can change quickly. Obviously, it takes time.

It's a pretty common path in the NFL for a guy to become a head coach, fail at that, return to a coordinator job and be phenomenal at it.

Brady following that road wouldn't surprise me.

Darryl Williams still starts at RT in Buffalo. Did he get better? Or is the offense designed around their lack of line that also showed against Pittsburgh week 1?

huh? They have only allowed 2 sacks since then... and what does their oline have to do with ours? They are a top 12 o line this year.

Really if we could just trade for a decent guard and pick up Schwartz or maybe have Christensen grow into that role we could probably make it through the season without killing Sam.

A couple more games like this and there won’t be anymore Sam this season. Then we get a Temple guy because ya know “Temple”.

Rhule and Joe made their choices. They wanted Teddy they got him. They chose Sam they got him. How neither of them saw the potential struggles of our oline around the corner knowing we have a reclamation project behind center is not a good look. I'm over the next Sean Payton thing. We don't need to be the Taints we need to be the Carolina Panthers again and impose our will instead of folding on 4th and 2 at home.

They wanted Stafford.  You didn't mention him in your post.  We offered up the #8 overall pick for him.  Why didn't you mention him?  Oh, it doesn't fit your narrative you are trying to paint the coaches.

Actually that was probably Fitt since that’s his job and everything.

Dang Dr. Phil. That's harsh. You should try and be nicer next time.

Doesn't matter, he didn't want us. It's the same saying we wanted Lawrence, it was never an option for us. We fans just didn't know it at the time. And that price tags...yikes. I want Mahomes, doesn't mean it was ever a legit option.

They traded for Sam, picked up his 5th year option and assembled this oline with 3 years of tape proving what Sam needs to have any success. 9 days ago they thought he was the answer and heading into the postseason. Now, its back to reality. It defiantly starts at the staff and rolls down hill. Throw in Fritts too for those 2 dud free agents with known injury issues that they were happy to go into this year relying on.

He isn't wrong about that.

So? He didn't want to play in Carolina. We had no shot at him anyway get over it.
