For all the criticism of Darnold in the last 24 hours, and I'm not saying it's not merited, what we're seeing atm is Sam playing the same way he did with the Jets when he's forced to deal with similar circumstances. I hate what happened yesterday, but it should be pretty obvious his poor play is going hand in hand with lack of protection. Teams are figuring out that it's not hard to get pressure on him because our line is absolute dogshit.

Is this a better team overall than the Jets? Of course. But is the part of it that most directly impacts a QB's ability to perform, the OL, any better than what he dealt with in NJ?

No.

It's worse.

Fix the OL. If he continues to play poorly, then we know he's not our guy. Until then, it's a lot harder to say.

The OL wasn't the only problem yesterday.

Eagles DBs calling out WRs running the same routes out of the same formations after the game.

Darnold missing open throws with plenty of time to throw.

Darnold forcing the ball to receivers when he has open receivers elsewhere he didn't even look at.

Blame is definitely on the OL but there's plenty more of it to go around.

The offensive performance yesterday was abysmal.

And people gave me grief for being upset we took Marshall in the 2nd over a quality OL, even after I made it clear my problem wasn't with Marshall but with continuing to ignore the OL til later rounds. Let's take a quick poll, who would trade Marshall right now for a quality interior lineman?

Drafting need will only make the problems worse.  Hurney drafted for need after the 1st round.  That worked out so well.

Yup, noting against Marshall, but I wasn't a fan of the pick at that point in the draft.  He may end up being good, but we really could have went another direction other than WR at that pick.

@NextGenStats: The Eagles pressured Sam Darnold on 19 of his 40 dropbacks (47.5%), allowing just 5 completions on 16 attempts under pressure (2 INT).

Four different Eagles pass rushers generated 6+ pressures, the second team to do so over the last four seasons.

Setting precedents?  Hopefully the coaches will get things straightened out.

Bc our defense was on the field the entire second half.

You people are so averse to reality. I always say these fans never watch NFL football but its clear they don't even watch our games.

We held clear TOP in both halves

The bottom line is Fitt missed on his plans to repair the OL. He made an effort, but it was a monumental whiff. Eflein and Erving are absolute dumpster fires. The thing that scares me is that 95% of our fans could've told you that was going to happen and Fitt/Rhule didn't see it coming. However, Christensen seems like he will pan out as a good draft pick and anchor the both tackles with Moton for years to come. I'm going to give Fitt one more draft and offseason to fix the line before I lose belief in him as a GM, but hot damn did he miss on his two offseason starting OL signings.

Drafting need blindly yes, taking positional value and need into consideration while making the draft board is essential.

Hurney locked on to his guys so I would say his evaluation  skills were a bigger problem then his drafting for need. Little should never have been on our draft board before the 5th, that was poor evaluation, dude was a first round pick that Burns saved us from making in Hurney's mind.

It’s amazing that our OL has been worse than the past couple seasons. Hurney really fuged it up. He let Ryan retire and paid a fat contract to an injured player whose previous team said they’d never sign him and let Norwell walk and traded Turner and did nothing to replace them in two loaded IOL drafts. We are reaping the fact that Hurney had no real plan and read the Huddle and got LT is all we need on the brain. Neither of the LTs we paid a lot of money/draft capital for worked out and we are where we are. We made a soft attempt at OL this year but prayers that Brown and BC work out. If we don’t OL heavy this off-season then I’ll be mad. Yesterday sucked and was disappointing as hell to watch, but I didn’t have huge aspirations for this year. I hope that all the good we seemed to have in Sam isn’t flushed down the toilet due to the IOL. That’s my only worry because they have been truly awful the past two weeks.

Sad thing is Hurney didn't read the Huddle or else he wouldn't have whiffed so bad with Little and Grier. If he had, he might have actually learned something from everyone pointing out the red flags on Paradis and the depth of IOL in that class. If I remember right there was a whole discussion about Grier being the pick at 100 a month before the draft.

I think he played a terrible game and it had nothing to do with pressure. Our WRs get open. There were throwing lanes and he had a bad game. It's going to happen when you have a young QB. Hit the Robbie Anderson play and that's the difference in the game right there. With that said we moved our line around this game and that's never good. I expect next week will be better.

oof

I said it yesterday but everyone was focused on the interior but BC had a rough go at it.  Sweat had his number all day.
