Darnold might be the next one out the door

If you’re a cornerback trying to earn a big paycheck, you want to play against turnover machine Sam Darnold.

Darnold has made Diggs a big house hold name and now revive Darius Slay’s career in Philly after today. Slay has been trash since getting paid by Philly. Has 1 int since he landed in Philly and has looked like trash getting beat by receivers each week and then today came.

The middle of that line is almost certainly gone as soon as it makes financial sense to dump them.

Sam has until the end of the season to shape up. Taking a cap hit dumping him hurts, but it has to be done immediately if he poops the bed this season. You don't want two lost seasons to try and save face and cap money. No single contract is worth a lost season.

Let's move on from the middle of our line first.

Even if we wanted to move on from Darnold, the only alternatives next year will be to try and trade a truckload for Wilson, Rodgers, or Watson.  And I doubt the Seahawks or Green Bay would let either of those QBs stay in-conference.

If you want to draft a QB, good luck.  But it isn't a good class.

They have reasonably claimed so far that they are treating him as a rookie this year. I would assume that means letting him take his lumps. They haven't given him a decent o-line and are forcing him to make plays regardless. CMC is huge for this offense in a number of ways, running, catching, blocking, decoy, and scheming. Getting him back his huge. Darnold has to make better throws. I'm not ready to give up on him yet.

I Am This Close GIF

Sam has to at least not suck next Sunday and the following Sunday for me to step off the ledge (slightly).

Yes it was only one game but with how poorly he played, it may just as well counted for TWO games.

What makes you think the NFL would have stepped in when they haven't yet?

Yea that's the thing about this one...it's a bit weird compared to other off the field issues we've seen. Obviously Watson is better and would rather have him.

Well if he's available, let's give up....*looks at notes*.....3 1st rounders for him.  😐
