Apparently his wife really wanted to come here. She’s  been posting about it on social media. On her Instagram story yesterday she said she had been trying to convince him to move back here for the past 2 years.

My theory is Belichick wanted to stick it to Brady and the Bucs. Knowing that they're in the in need of secondary market. 

This scenario insured he doesn't go there, plus the Panthers and Patriots have played two common opponents, Saints and the Jets; so Bill probably has seen from game film study that this is a up and coming defense and wanted to give an extra boost to Brady's division rival.  

I'm sure there had to be better offers than a 6th rd pick in 2023 lol
