1st Quarter - 72.7%, 308 yds, 1 TD, 111.7 rating

2nd Quarter - 75.5%, 415 yds, 2 TDs, 118.3 rating

3rd Quarter - 43.3%, 164 yds, 0 TD, 3 INTs, 21.4 rating

4th Quarter - 73.6%, 302 yds, 2 TDs, 114.1 rating

I think Brady needs work on his gameplanning for the 3rd quarter.

'Cause it can't be ALL on Sam (though some of it definitely falls on him).

Just think...if there was no Halftime, the 3rd quarter would mirror the other quarters.   LOL!

I think that whole thing ended about when CMC went out.

They have to slowly let him open up more & more. Cause teams are starting to notice that we are throwing a DJ Moore comeback route at least 5 times a game and 3 of them will be on 3rd downs. Granted that will change some when CMC comes back. They just didn't seemed "fooled" anymore in the third QTR, and they were playing "control the lead" (couldn't think of the word/phrase i wanted here) football in the 4th when we were making a lil comeback

I don't think Dan Quinn expected SAM DARNOLD to make that comeback after he inexplicably went to a Prevent AND took Diggs out.

I think he thought that 2020 Sam Darnold would rear its fugly head 'cause he thought the Cowturds broke him or something.

I think if the Cowturds went 3-and-out when there was over 4 minutes remaining after Sam threw his 2nd TD, Quinn would've went back to the regular defense and have to put a rested(but now cooled-off) Diggs back in....

His decision almost came back to bite him in the ass and no one can convince me otherwise on that.

Sam does have his issues in the third, buy it's a whole team effort... or lack thereof in the third. They come out in the 2nd half flat on both sides of the ball.

I don't know what they do in  that locker room during the half, but it isn't filling them with a sense of urgency.

It's almost like they take a nap during halftime and use the 3rd to wake up.

All other quarters they are damn solid. It's just coming out of that half that they sleep walk.

Overcoming that is going ng to be the thing that makes them a championship team, even with a bad OL.

If you recall against the Texans, that after the CMC injury where they played like sh-t toward the end of the 2nd quarter, the 3rd quarter they did alright and Sam rose to the occasion.

Maybe Rhule needs to not to tell them they're doing a good job at Halftime.   He needs to tell them that we are only up one point and that was because their FG kicker pulled a Joey Slye on the XP.   If we don't get our sh-t together, we will LOSE!

Now maybe he did do that and they still came out flat, I don't know....

Is it lack of urgency?   Lack of proper gamecalling on both sides of the ball?

Or , like someone suggested, not making proper adjustments ahead of time to circumvent whatever adjustments the opponent makes?

He has to be able to adapt to the adjustments just as much as the staff does.

That may be true but this has happened in all but one game(the Texans game where CMC got hurt) and it comes to a point where you can't just say "oh.  It's all Sam's fault that the Team played like sh*t" or something.

It's the Coaching staff's job to make sure the team is READY TO PLAY in the 3rd.    It's Sam's job to play QB and make good throws (That's the only thing he's in control of).

From a development standpoint I would agree.

Problem though, is with a rookie you have 3-4 years to decide if they are worth a big contract, with Sam you better have a pretty good idea after this season.

What we gave up for Sam isn't that big of a deal, what we will have to give up to keep him will be a lot more.

Honestly at this point I don't know if anyone knows for sure.

Evidently you can win with Darnold and he's still improving.

You need to sit down with him and his agent and discuss a deal. If he wants a 'saviour of the franchise' type contract then you let him play out his 5th year option and start looking elsewhere.

If he's willing to be reasonable - y'know, cos we saved his career - and takes a team friendly deal then you lock him up.

I don't know what it is but I think Sam, to me, seems to be the type of person who would not ask for the Moon here.

It's his Agent we need to watch out for.    (does he have an agent?)

All players have agents. His agent used to be Jimmy Sexton unless he's changed representation.

4th quarter numbers are misleading due to garbage time of sundays game. This was also Darnold’s M.O with the Jets start off strong in the first half, melt in the second.

Garbage time?  How do you figure that?  With 5 minutes left in the game we were down one score.  Sam brought us back but the defense couldn't get a stop.

That's a QB doing his (*@#ing job and getting us back in the game.  How different would the narrative be today if the defense had gotten a stop, and Sam drove us down to tie the game?

"Garbage time" only applies when a team loses by 2+ scores.  We did not.  We showed that we don't give up, ever.  That's exactly the sort of attitude you want in your young team.

    • Yeah and he succeeded at an even higher level in LA with an even better surrounding cast. Goff is a guy that isn't really able to dramatically elevate players around him but he can make a good situation even better. He is capable of that. Some QB's aren't. I am not sure Dak is able to do that and he is in a similar "class" as Goff, IMO.
    • i think i could handle that for a year. beyond that....i don't know.  back where we lived, when we had a few inches of snow, it might have been a couple feet because we weren't getting out and doing anything. i remember times where power would go out for days on end. we had propane and electric heat, depending on the floor. basement (had a couple bedrooms and a living room and kitchen down there) and main floor had gas logs. main floor gas logs was enough to take care of the upstairs, so we could stay warm and cook on the grill when we needed. we had a well so that was always an issue when the power went out. had to make sure tubs were filled with water for the toilets and we had gallons of water for drinking and cooking available. always had to make sure we were ready. that wasn't always the case. we had a couple moments where we were going through propane quickly and because we were dealing with the worst propane company in the world (amerigas) they wouldn't get out to put gas in our 900 gallon tank. made for some nerve racking moments.  i know y'all were probably a lot more able to handle that kind of thing, but after the little bit (comparatively) that we got here i just have no desire to get trapped again. maybe for a day or two a year get snowed in and i'm good.
    • I think he is just drawing a DC to them line and that's about as far as his thought process went. It makes almost no sense outside of that. Also, it doesn't make sense for Pittsburgh or Seattle at this juncture either.  I think our "veteran" pool is basically gonna be the Dalton/Flacco tier or the "pick your poison" options of young busts(Jones/Z. Wilson) or wild, TO prone gunslingers(Darnold/Winston/etc). We have the option to pursue I genuinely believe(depending on the way the rest of this season goes), we either draft a QB in the top 10 or resign Dalton. Outlier third option on taking one of the wild gunslingers that Dave feels like he can work with.
