I think that may be the case here...(or it really seems like it).

Looks to me like he's waiting for Sam to morph into Teddy Asswater so he can then kick back, light a "victory" cigar, and tell us how he "knew all along" or some sh-t.   smh.

Yupperz, no matter what you say that is possitive for Sam, he has some other crazy azz notion to downnplay Sam. Some folks are never going to accept Sam.

Aaron Rodgers has 14 comebacks in his 17(or so) career. His hit rate is 29%. 4th quarter comebacks are not a stat to hang your hat on.

He also has 26 game winning drives.  Nobody could argue Rodgers can't win the game when it's on the line.  I'd like us to have the same with Darnold. With as good as our defense can be, Darnold may not get a ton of opportunities for come backs, but I'd love to see him shine when that opportunity presents itself.

You were literally so excited we had a franchise QB after Teddy's start last year... do I really need to point out the threads?

Yes! I never got on that train. I liked what he did to start the year. And before he lost his nerve. I just wish it wasn't him.

What does that have to do with YOUR distain for Sam? Sam is doing things our last QB couldn't, or wouldn't do. Sam makes our last QBs look like the chump he was.

After a 10 sec Google search. "With 14 career fourth-quarter comebacks and a success rate of 29 percent,"

Not sure where you got your numbers.

Why does Sam have to be someone else. Can't we just let him be Sam? And then just enjoy the ride.

I don't have distain for Sam, its nothing personally against him, I'm just not sold based on his performance so far. He is very up and down. That third quarter was inexcusable and he makes too many dumb turnovers still. He is very jittery in the pocket and has taken some bad sacks or missed open plays as a result because he's looking at the rushers instead of down field. He could have gotten rid of the ball and not taken some of those sacks. He's missed quite a few open receivers deep.

He does have some positives. He is cerebral and the playbook is excellent so far especially his rushing plays. He's thrown some ropes in the intermediate. He's converted some big 3rd downs, a few with his legs when he went through his progressions. He actually has gone through progressions a few times, something I didn't think he could do.

I'm not ready to say he is a franchise QB yet...I'd say he is in the 12-18 range in terms of quarterbacks a team would take to win a playoff game. I would feel a lot better if he wasn't so damn jittery and panicky in the pocket. To me that is a bad sign.

Rodgers had 26 game winning drives and 18 4th quarter comebacks. That's damn clutch, especially since he didn't play for his first 3 years.

Sam doesn't need to be someone else, lol.  YOU brought up Rodgers. I just said I want to see Sam have to take advantage of situations in which he could lead us to wins.  It'll show he's clutch, which I think he can be. The problem with Teddy was not stats or missing deep balls, it was the 0 and 8 or whatever it was on chances to win us games.

Sam needs to be a person capable of leading this team to wins. So far, promising start.  But I want more than just "better than Bridgewater". I want our own franchise leader. Not a copy of some other star player, just Sam Darnold showing he can be our guy.

All in all a pretty fair assessment. I will say though. You say he has jittery feet. I say it is much better than having cement feet. Your feet have to go where you  are throwing. Hard to do so with your feet planted on the ground.

First. This is a quote FROM YOU. "Darnold could use some 4th quarter comebacks, game winning drives, etc. Those are more important than stats alone." So though you  didn't bring up Rodgers per se. You did open the door.

Second. I cannot allay your fears. That is something you have to do yourself. Maybe just enjoy the games, instead of critiquing Sam for every little thing. You are so wound up on all these periphirels, you are missing the big point.

This team responds to Sam. And so far, he has proven he deserves that confidence.

Edit to add. Everything you are saying is about you. YOU  want more of this. YOU think he should do this. Maybe just relax your expectations a tad. Enjoy Sam for what he IS bringing. Not for what his is NOT bringing.

Lol, what?  This is a message board.  We are here to talk about players... Who says I'm not enjoying Sam's play?

I can enjoy his play and be happy with his progress and still think he can do better and show more.

I'm very far from a Sam hater.  I want him to be the best QB he can be, and the best the Panthers could hope for.  Doesn't mean he is there just yet, but I'm hopeful.

Sounds reasonable to me. Although it may have sounded more sincere without those two negs thrown in.

Let me get this straight, I'm hearing that you do not think a qb is franchise unless he brings his team back from behind in the 4th quarter, correct? How many times does he have to do that successfully or is it some arbitrary number?

So having said that how do you qualify a qb that rarely puts his team in that position to begin with?  Just for future reference.
