What happened to our D in Dallas?

Actually we punched them in the mouth pretty damn good at the start. Especially that huge hit that caused the fumble but cowboy refs ruled it forward momentum.

Right but that 245 yards on the ground and 433 yards in total on our defense says they stepped on our necks. Hopefully this will motivate our guys to go on another win streak but how we looked in the trenches is concerning for any Panthers fan that knows their history.

This is going to be an unpopular opinion...

But the defense really didn't play THAT bad.  I just think people don't realize how good Dallas is on offense with Dak.  They were doing this same stuff last year before he got hurt.  Dak is really, really good.  They have a great scheme.  Great receivers.  And a great RB duo.

Yes, we should have played better, but the Cowboys are just a really good team, especially on offense.

Cowboys were also given a freebie with the botched fumble which led to points.

It was a fumble caused immediately on contact.  We would have had the ball on the Dallas 43.  That is 6 points Dallas wouldn't have had, and whatever points we would have scored.  Had we just got a field goal it would have been 17-7 at the half, if we scored a TD 21-7.  I know the ripple effect and you can't assume, but THAT WAS A FUMBLE that had a big impact on the game.  Would we have been playing from behind without that SH I T call?

Games are often decided on turnovers.  The zebras cheated us out of one.

I'm not saying Dak isn't good. Philly sacked him.  Why couldn't we?

I will say this -

Yetur Gross-Matos is needed.

I love Brian Burns and he played very well, and I like Reddick, but it really hurts our run defense having to rely on those two as our primary edge-setters.  That just isn't what they do best.

Dallas also has Quinn as DC (where he is best) and he has some familiarity with Brady's offense and schemes.  Dallas is pretty darn good on both sides of the ball.

Again, we are on the rise.  Our offensive line is trash and we still put up 28 points.  People are overreacting to this loss.

I thought we were getting okay pressure throughout the day.  He only threw for 188 yards.  Dallas came with a good game-plan though.  They didn't give up on the run, which was gashing us and I think it made our pass rushers a little hesitant on attacking.  Even when they threw, it was often off play-action.  And when the pocket collapsed, Dak was just really, really good at getting the ball out.

Sacks often can be very random.  I'm not saying we couldn't have done things better, we absolutely could have.  We have to be better at the point of attack on run defense.  But I truly felt like Dallas just came with a great game-plan and were executing on offense very well.  I didn't see us miss a lot of tackles.  I didn't see our DBs get flat-out beat.  Cowboys just played great.  And I know that isn't something a lot of people always want to hear, but IMO it's the truth.  Cowboys are a great team (Kellen Moore is 100% getting a HC job sooner than later).  We are a good team.  And I think that was the difference today.

The biggest problem with the defense, especially late in the game, was our edge discipline.  Tony Pollard made it look so easy vs us down the stretch because of how easily he was able to bounce it to the outside.  That's gotta be fixed.  Gross-Matos returning will help, but I felt like the DBs weren't stepping up and making an impact in the run game like they had Games 1-3.

But like I said... Cowboys just played great.  At the end of the day, we lost by one possession in a game where we can confidently say one possession shouldn't have happened for the Cowboys.  Ish happens.  And trust me, I was depressed as anyone seeing us lose, especially being surrounded by Cowboys fans.

The biggest problem I saw for us today, by far, was the OL.  It's that bad.  There was one play our LT got absolutely turned around by a blitzing DB (or maybe it was a LB?).  Absolutely embarrassing.

This team will be a real force when they realize you need more than 1 good lineman in the NFL.

Yeah and we got called. Where did Dallas get called? Thanks

I'm guessing the 7 times they were penalized for more yards than the 6 times you were for less?  lol.

including that bs illegal hit call that was shoulder to shoulder that allowed y'all to score.   but ya know, don't let me interrupt a good narrative with facts.

You guys really undervalue the importance of being able to cover in Snow’s scheme.

I tried telling you specifically @SBBlue that Jaycee going down would have a domino effect.

CJ needs to get up to speed for Philadelphia this week or it’ll be a lot of the same.

I will admit I was surprised how easily they moved the ball on the ground today though.

Yep I think the Burris injury hurt the defense a surprising amount too. Franklin does not belong in the NFL.

    • What I really learned here is that the Carolina Panthers aren't anywhere near as bad as I initially thought they were earlier this year.  We've got a young and growing offense with some promising parts. But it still needs some tweaks and improvements.  We really still could still use a dominant #1 WR. But Chubba,  Legette, Coker,  and J.Sanders have generally looked decent. Bryce took a big leap after the benching. We can score enough points to keep pace with 2x defending super bowl champions, so offense isn't a huge issue. Main thing that needs improvement is defense. We sorely need a CB 2, and a number of new players at Dline and LB.  We're not quite as bad at edge with Wonnum showing promise.  But we definitely need 1 or 2 more edges Clowney is old.  Run D is probably worse prevailing theme these past couple years. We really need a good young stud or two to pair with Derrick Brown and another LB to pair up with Trevin Wallace. If Morgan and Canales can focus on rebuilding the defense this off-season and possibly going out and getting a #1 WR. This team could easily be somewhere around 7-10 to 10-7 and flirting with playoffs in 1 or 2 seasons. Overall this game has made me feel alot more positive about the direction of the team.
    • With our picks we need pass rush, lb, Safety, a speedster yac wr, o line depth and I still want a mid round qb. We got 9 picks and 8 in the first 5 rounds. If they pull Off another solid draft we be cooking.
    • We had one passing touchdown against the Giants and one passing touchdown against the Chiefs today. Yes a good backup can replicate that. And that is why Andy Dalton in significantly less games has the same number of 30 point outings as Bryce Young. I am on board with you guys about wanting to be hopeful for the future. Today was a good performance to build on especially at home. But let's please keep things in perspective. BTW the Bucs who honestly aren't even that good blew the doors off the Giants today after we went to overtime against them with 17 points. Again. Perspective.
