No. The one with Goings & Hoover doing well was during our injury bug season of '04-'05, with how Foster & Davis were both out for the season.

Our D is actually pretty solid this year, and they're only getting better. I guess it just took some time for the players to develop chemistry under Meeks system.

We flat ran out of steam in the Championship game that year, it's tough to play 3 playoff games on the road. Goings had a good year standing in for Davis when Davis got hurt, Proehl was a clutch guy when we needed big catches the most, and Smitty was doing things like running back punts (he scored a TD in the Championship game on a punt return). We were healthy after the disaster that happened in '04. Jake still had the moxey that helped define him, and we were still able to win games coming back in the 4th quarter. Then, like now, we had a damned good running attack when our 2 starters (Davis and Foster) were healthy. I'd say the biggest difference between now and then (besides the records) is that we haven't adequately replaced Proehl. When we let him go and we signed MeShawn before the '06 season, I knew we were in trouble, and that came to pass (no pun intended!).

You'd never knew the guy was the reason we FINALLY beat and SWEPT a Vick-led Falcon team in 05 after being embarrased the previous couple years. You'd never know the guy put up 150 rushing yards (the most ever for a Panther in a playoff game) in NY to win our wild card game for us.

Can't believe we've gotten this far in this thread without a mention of the playoff game against the bears...if we don't go to, and win, a superbowl in Smitty's career, I'll have to say that that game is an odds-on favorite for his crowning moment.
