How the hell did we manage to go 11-5 in 2005?

48 turnovers forced, only gave it away 39 times. Jake kept his int numbers relatively low. 2005 was before Deshaun Foster got beat up to much, he still had decent speed. He averaged 4.3 a carry. And while Stephen Davis declined a lot, he was still money around the goal line with 12 td's. Our third down receiver was Ricky Mr. Clutch Proehl. Seems like he made a lot of clutch catches that year and his ypc were more than Steve Smith's.

Play good defense, don't turn the ball over, force the other team to turn it over, and have two big play receivers, and a solid if unspectacular running game, and you will win some games.

Man, do you remember that hit he took in the NFC Championship game? It was f*cking nasty! It had me scared to death

honestly the first time i saw that hit i thought tatupu was going to be coming off on the worst end. I believe they both went down initially. I think the deciding factor in the hit was the fact that tatupu had his feet planted and goings was airborne.

I think the biggest factor was the Rush defense. We haven't had a rushing defense that dominant since that year. Even when jenkins came back we wern't really as dominant. Once the run D is better, teams will throw more and we will get more turnovers. Watching these backs plow through us just isn't Fox football at all.

We made a big mistake in letting so many of our back-up defensive lineman go. I don't understand why we thought that would be a good idea. They were all total beasts. We absoultley have to get some blue-chip lineman out of this years draft.

i think smitty got us there and the defence plus you cant forget if im not wrong keary colbert had like 750 yards and like 7 or 8 td's that year.

That was 2004. Colbert didn't do much in 2005. In truth, Ricky Proehl was our number 2 receiver in 2005, even if he didn't start. Had the same number of catches, and twice as many yards.

One of my favorite memories. That game was awesome.

We went through RB's that year the way we've gone through DT's this year. Goings had a concussion from that hit in the NFCCG and our only RB was Jamal Robinson(?). I remember Drew Carter getting beat up in the end zone that should've been called & wasn't. Officiating was horrid. And Holmgren complained about the officiating in the SB. HaHa

Defense kept us close in games. We scored at least 20 pts per game until the Chicago loss and following win against buffalo. We swept The Falcons(absolutely demolishing them in the second one) The defense was always fired up and in position. Since then, we've faced a lack of pass rush, a lack of run defense and a lack of turnovers.
