Rayshawn Slater PFF 71.3

Alex Leatherwood PFF 34.6
AVT PFF 62.5
Tevin Jenkins back surgery

AVT's score is clearly ass as PFF for some reason has been in absolute love with the Jets line which is one of the worst in the  league in pressures, hits, and sacks and I personally saw Derrick Brown eat AVT's lunch over and over.

because AVT's 3 game grade is totally based on just his snaps against Brown?

Speaking of those times DB ate his lunch, did some of them happen to be pass plays?  Have you actually looked at AVT's pass block grade?  I'll save you the trouble, its atrocious.

Also I don't get this idea that PFF is in love with certain teams?  What does it benefit them?  Why would they want to hold certain players to a different standard?  Why would they want to be counterproductive to the one thing they are trying to do which is grading the entire league to a uniform standard.  We might not agree with their standard but its what their entire business model is based off of.

Wow.  You're pretty sensitive about PFF.  You work for them or something?  You follow me around and any time I criticize them, there you are.

The fact that Darnold can be even halfway competent with this o line is a miracle

That's exactly the way I've felt as this early season has unfolded. The bright side of this disaster is that we can imagine what Darnold is really capable of once we get the line sorted.

I mean, what's his ceiling?!?

That's not one game.  That's thru three games.  Van Roten's score is currently 53.9 on pff.

Meanwhile the Jets have the HIGHEST PRESSURE% in the the league and lead the league in sacks with FIFTEEN.  Their ybc is mediocre at 2.6 so the run blocking is NOWHERE near where it needs to be to raise the overall score.  They're 28th in rushing yards and 29th in rushing attempts.  So how can the run grade raise their overall grade so much when they aren't running the ball and when they finally do, its nothing special.

Did I mention that Wilson has been sacked 15 times?  At that rate, Wilson will be sacked 85 times this season.

So please explain to me @AU-panther,  how does the Jets entire line score above 50 when they so clearly TOTALLY suck on the field in STATS and via the eye test?

This is exactly why PFF is an okay place to look at something you don't know (like the Jets line rankings), but then you have to use some common sense to realize these are just dorks throwing out numbers based on their subjective grading system.

There was a game in 2017 or 2018 where Cam outplayed Brees in every conceivable stat and measurable metric, but PFF gave Brees a way higher grade based on some reasoning like "expected catches" and goofy things that aren't tangible and are extremely subjective. That's when I stopped relying on their scores for anything meaningful.

    • Yeah, ok... So if you are so brilliant then why don't you show your scouting reports to teams and get an actual NFL job..  SMH I get so tired of people saying they are smarter than people who hold actual jobs in this industry but just choose to be a small team market internet scout. Come on dude.  Also I get how you can say that you would have drafted another player over someone like Brooks. Sure thats a simple argument that one can make without being employed. But your missing all the conversations that lead to that being the pick and why. Picking players in a bubble is not the same as picking it on a team where you have differing scouting reports and feed back from different coaches about how they could be used vs other players with similar grades and those other players could be used. Then put on top of all of that what the team strategy is for the season.  Picking players in a bubble is not the same as picking it on a team.
    • Now isnt the time for the team not playing smart. They have to get their poo together and keep it together from now to through out the playoffs.
    • He is probably one now.  Players do come out early for the money, and you can argue that a first round selection makes you rich, but a second contract makes you richer--and the difference between #8 and #28 is a lot.  However, I will bet that 6 QBs go in round 1 next year, so maybe this is the year for him.
