Yeah. This makes a lot of sense.  The deal has some risk but there is major upside if it falls right.

perfect scenario:  he balls out and we end up with 3 starting caliber corners in Horn, Jackson and Henderson.  Steal for the Panthers

Not so perfect scenario: I think you come out ahead if he ends up being just a stop gap this year for Horn and then becomes nothing more than a depth piece.  
 

disaster scenario:  He totally busts this year and barely sees the field.  Still don’t think you lose too much but it’s hard to swallow.

The amount of concern over trading a 3rd here is mind blowing, did you all not just witness our what 6 picks in the 2021 draft turn into 11. 

I believe we still have a -- 1, 4, 5, 5, 6, 7 -- if memory serves.

Given the tendency shown in the draft, and in season to trade, we will likely be trading back in the first to accumulate more selections. 

This young man has all the tools similar to Jaycee, and was a consensus top corner in the 2020 draft. It seems to have been well reported that he DID NOT want to go to JAX. See Eli Manning forcing a trade to NYG because SD was known as a team with bad management. 

Go turn on the film and breakdowns that are out there, we have more in our favor to tap his potential than JAX, and not to mention, we are a better defense, and TEAM overall. 

This was a good move. 6'1 / 204 lbs -- 9.97 RAS with the tape from college, and in his 8 games last year to back it up before injury.

Honestly, looking to the future he might be our #3. I hope we resign DJack so with Horn and Henderson we have a very deep secondary that is very good at man coverage. Horn and Henderson will also be on rookie deals for a few more years so we can afford to pay DJack.

Looking beyond this year, we have a SCARY defense. Potentially best on paper heading into the 2022 season.

Greg Hardy was a nut case. This kid was struggling with living so close to his friends and family. Even Peppers struggled with that and it is why he left for Chicago.

There's absolutely no chance that Matt Rhule didn't talk with this kid before the trade was made. If Rhule thinks he can be rehabbed with a change of scenery here, then I'm going to have to trust him on this one. Coach Snow had to have talked to him, too, to see if he could handle his job in our defense.

If this goes as well as the Sam Darnold trade did, then it's going to be a good move, perhaps even a great one.

Expect to see Fitterer and Rhule looking for more top pick players stuck with dumpster fire teams to trade for. If you rescue enough good dogs and train them up, sooner or later you get Benji. Along the way you're going to build up a lot of good karma, too.

It's a different approach and a new one. If you think it through, though, there's a touch of genius in it.

A bad situation or a coach can make someone not want to play the game or be miserable doing it.  

My hope is that our culture and environment will get Henderson back to where he was before getting draft.  You don't become one of the best players in your sport without passion and desire.

I agree.  There is some risk but high reward.  As for your disaster scenario?  Nah.  I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't play at all this year or is just a minimal depth player.  If he's not playing next year, then it's a bust.  IF there are issues going on behind the scenes, he may not be ready to play in a coupe weeks or months.  This could be a longer term, months long process of getting his head right.  It's speculation obviously, but I'm not going to call him a bust if he doesn't play this year.

I think this is because we don't have a second.  Basically some will view it as a 1st, no second, no third, the rest of the picks are garbage and have no value - essentially a 1 player draft, maybe 2 if we can get a kicker.  "We don't need more depth" I think is a comment I've seen.  This is mostly freak out over how to get 4 starting OL with only 1 valuable draft pick.

(fyi, you always need more depth)
