Having definitive mental health problems seems to be entirely speculative.

He mostly just seemed very disgruntled with being on the Jags.

I wouldn’t say entirely, Charlie Strong indicated he was having some issues and dealing with stuff.

I only remember him talking about it because I had no clue Charlie was now with the Jags and was surprised he was there now

Urban Jacksonville is nice, a little rundown but it's nice.

Jacksonville is a poo hole of a town. Can't be great playing there.

Many moons ago as our family was passing though Jacksonville to Disney land. Pops stopped to get gas and the local sheriff was there. Chatted him up, told my father not to stop if they saw a person in need - "KEEP DRIVING, no matter what". Seems the locals were setting up traps for people passing though, people laying in the street and broke down cars with upset women. Someone/family stops, group jumps out and gets 5 guns in their face then robbed...

The amount of work front offices and coaches do on these guys before the draft would definitely vet out any red flags, so the fact that both Fitt and Rhule were trying to make this happen should be all the confidence one needs.

For the cost? This was a great move.

but what we got him for and the fact the Jags have been trying to unload him since this summer?  I think does kinda confirm there is at least something there.

All season the #7 pick of the 2020 draft has been offered up for cheap (who has looked promising when he played)….there has to be red flags that teams are aware of for that to happen IMO.

Short ver- He did not want to play in Jax, at ALL. Near by family is hitting him hard for $$$(rumors). Urdoofus did not help the any issues CJ had, only made them worse.

I'm hearing the same. (Big grain of salt of course.) He's a reserved, quiet type of guy & wanted to get away from the hangers on.

Jacksonville does suck. It's a legit ugly city in my opinion and just all around mediocre. Worst major city in Florida by far.

Floridians don't consider Jacksonville or the Panhandle part of Florida. It is southern Georgia and Alabama.

Sounds like he may be an introvert that has trouble fitting in. One of his teammates was asked how they felt about him leaving and said “we’re not exactly shaken up about it.” And that he was a great player but just a weird/different guy. New environment will almost certainly be good for him initially. Long term who knows though.

Tbf they could only zoom call prospects that year. No face to face meetings. I think cj just wanted out of Jacksonville tho. And I’m a big proponent of players using their leverage to get out of shitty situations. It’s their work environment and careers.

I feel for him.  We had an offensive lineman…a great one, that had a horrible family like that.  Good guy, but his family were always around causing trouble, they were always pressuring him to leave school early….which remarkably, was the right choice, he was ready.  All they wanted was money.

He was drafted #9 in the first round, to…..Dallas.  His family ended up barred from the facilities, they stole from him, and he eventually cut them off.  Believe he gives them an allotted sum, no more.

What a horrible thing to do to your child, if true.
