Getting CJ is great also because he fits our system much better than Jackson. I think long term Jackson will be our slot CB. We like to let our safeties jump routes and have the CBs take over the deep coverage, and Jackson is not suited to do that due to his height/speed limitations. CJ and Horn are the perfect CBs for our funky system because they can cover more ground and get deep in a hurry with long strides.

Crazy as it may sound, Donte is faster than both of them.

IMO, he has played up to it until the last 3 games. Again I'm a fan of his, and I hope he earns every cent. 17th doesn't sound that bad, last I saw, pretty sure he was higher up the list. Also, he's set to make a poo ton the next 2 years.

I stand corrected, he is the 20th highest paid linebacker

Next year he is the 18th highest paid linebacker

2023 he is the 15th highest paid linebacker

It's not a bad contract.....

I point this out each time, but those LB rankings include Pass rushing LBers like Watt, Mack, and Vonn Miller, AKA 3-4 LBers. Completely different skill positions.

Removing those LBers, he is around 7-10 for 4-3 LBers

I think a few of us had pointing it out during the broadcast at the time but CJ Henderson looked miserable when he found out he was being picked by Jacksonville

Having played in Gainesville, you best believe he was well aware of Jacksonville's rep.

He looked like he'd been charged with a felony, and had no lawyer.

Whatever "mental health issues" he might or might not have experienced, subsequent to that low moment in his young life, he will be as overjoyed as Sam Darnold to have escaped from their respective dungeons.

I expect a handsome return on this investment.

So yeah, he’s a great prospect, no doubt, 1st round talent as a TE. But when I look at him through the lens of that PSU offense, they were running so much through him, I’m not so sure it was beneficial to seeing how he translates.  They were getting him open in the flat, running weird trick plays, and designed a lot of ways to find him on delayed seam routes and such. So a lot was structured around getting him the ball in creative ways to advance the ball, in steady sequences, methodically down the field.  Thing is, yeah he’s catching a ton, is big, and can block, but throw him into an NFL offense in a more traditional sense, he’s gonna be stickied by speedy LBs and big nickels. I just wonder how he is in a more isolated fashion— when he’s just a piece of a greater NFL offense getting shadowed by more talented defenders. I think it could still be great but I have question marks when it’s at the TE position. Will he look no different than other very solid TEs or is he this offensive centerpiece at the position that doesn’t come along often (Bowers, Gronk, Kelce, Witten, TG, etc)? I think he brings a ton and could be one of the safer TE prospects, but what I’m unsure about is if you’re really getting this new age Witten type people are crowning him as. Even if that’s the case, is that worth it? If he wasn’t in PSU’s Franklin/Allar offense, would you be seeing the same output?  More questions than anything - I could get on board with it, but it’s hard for me to really project because of how that offense was (which was so frustrating at times).
    • Twitter sources, but supposedly the Rams want him. He might actually go Round 1.
    • You aren't going to ever get him out of the equation. As he has stated previously, he believes it his right to make the final call on decisions.
