Chubba had a terrible drop in the end zone  Thursday that might have changed that.

The line is terrible. That's not changing. And Sam is going to have some bad games. Every QB does. It happens.

Rum is an idiot who says crap like "Sam can't make a TD throw" yet he made several (one to DJ Moore in Game 2).

That was game three, that's all. Sam was solid in each and he's authored some long drives that ate the clock up. It has been a long time since we've had such control of the time of possession -- with a good defense that's a powerful thing.

Two of the teams we've played were really questionable going into the season, but so were we. We rose above them. That's what we had to do. Then there was New Orleans and the Saints had just blasted the Packers on opening day. We returned them to Earth and beat them. There were lots of excuses for the Saints, but we played them when we were supposed to, not much we can do about that.

Now we have Dallas next up on the schedule. Dallas can't play defense. Dallas also hasn't really played anyone who could play defense next. We're going to be coming off of 10 days rest with a couple of our guys out. It should be an interesting game, but there's no way in the world that we go in there acting like we've already been beaten. And if we win...

Most folks outside of the fanbase still won't believe in us and Sam will still be ranked lowly in those "Best WB" polls. And that's okay. He's winning games, that's all it takes to be a winner.

And it appear that he's that guy.

Which would make it critical that Sam convert EVERYTIME the Panthers are in the Redzone.

'Cause you know that Dak can put up points himself.

Of course he could get mauled by Burns and Company, while Sam tosses 5 TDs and runs for 2 more but we'll see.   😄

Those that supported the trade almost universally made the argument: If Darnold can be average, we’ll be dangerous.”

Welp, that’s a little better than average and we’re 3-0.

Good call.

What gave me hope is that Sam was signed to the right franchise, reading that it was the defensive coaches that brought Sams’ film to the attention of Coach Rhule, because they could see his potential.  Then they studied all his tape from his USC days thru all three years on the Jets.  Several star defensive players that played against him, also praised his skill set.

The Panthers defensive coaches, which included the DC, were  the ones championing signing him.  Doesn’t mean he’s going to succeed, and he will always have those INTs, but he also has the ability to come back from those mistakes.

That means more to me, as someone that loves defense, than anything a fan or talking heads think about Sam.  Let it play out.

Cautiously optimistic but it's still early.  I remember some people around here reacting similarly to Teddy early last year. Let's see how teams adjust, and I definitely think Matt and Joe are keeping things very simply for him so far to try and build confidence. Sunday could get very interesting. If it turns into a shootout, will Sam be good enough to keep us in a game like that until the end?

He’s not going to have a perfect season, and he’s still capable of improving.

As someone who was definitely against the signing, this is true. If he can maintain this higher level of play for the bulk of the season, then it's reasonable to think he can improve even further in future seasons.

I am still wary of proclaiming him "the answer" this early in. I didn't forget last season where Teddy ripped off three straight wins early in the year and the same jumping to conclusions was made. Or when Kyle Allen was ripping off 5 straight wins.

He doesn't concern me as much as they did in the "eye test" category like Teddy and Allen did.
