Seriously, does ANYONE REALLY think we can make a playoff run with Jake Delhomme?...

Before we get ahead of ourselves Jake looked pretty good his 1st time around against the Falcons D and then proceeded to suck for a couple of games. I prefer to look at what a player has done over a stretch as opposed to 1 game (kinda how most people should look at there relationships). I know someone will say he hasn't thrown a pick in 3 games, well so what he threw 15 in the 6 before that. I hope he does return to the Jake of old but I wont hold my breath as I have said I think he is done here.

I don't think as a fan I have to always take the overly optimistic angle.
Wow, I'm sure glad you cleared that up. The part about you being a fan, I mean. :)

The Panthers should be good in November. If we beat the Dolphins we will be 5-5 with 9 days rest heading to New York to face a Jets team that will probably be 4-6 and packing their season in. New York has no run defense now that Jenkins is out, and their QB will be doing a firm face plant into the rookie wall. After that it's home against Tampa Bay, and you don't have to be overly optimistic to like our chances in that one.

So if we go into December at 7-5, we get to face the Vikings, Patriots, Giants, and Saints as our reward. That looks pretty tough, but you have to remember that Fox always has his teams playing at their best in December. We're 20-11 under him, and to really be considered as playoff contenders we just need two of those games.

I can see us beating the Giants this year, and we'll do it by running all over them. As far as the other three, that's tough to call. But we've beaten playoff teams in December before.

One thing that's nice, every game will be huge for the Panthers. That should be a lot of fun to watch. :)

Everyone keeps saying on 04, or in 05, or in 03..but that was 5 YEARS AGO! This isnt the same Jake. I found that out when he threw a smoke rout to Steve Smith, and missed by 2 yards...5 YEARS ago, he would have hit Smitty in the numbers..this year, its almost a pick 6..

well the season is half way over.....Carolina is still sitting below .500. I don't think I am a "bad fan" for still looking at the overall body of work and not getting my hopes up based on a good 3 game streak. I hope they continue it and they have the talent to do just that.........but that is what I hope happens....not what I expect. Carolina shouldn't have a losing record right now......they are better than that. I'm still worried the problems that got themselves into this mess are corrected.

didnt you just make a thread saying you think we'll only lose one game the entire rest of the season? how is it jake will be good enough, in your opinion, to beat the dolphins, jets, tampa bay, giants, vikings, and saints, but there's no possible way to make a playoff run with him?

RT81, is that you?

:iagree:Hmmmmm!!! Something strange going on here!:icon_bs:

He has played Kerry Collins ball the last 3 weeks. The 05 Bears will tell you best when they say you can't hind your QB..I don't mind running the ball with these two backs that we have, but its kind of sad when we're running on 3th and 7s from the 49 yard line....Either trust in Jake, or make the change at QB..

the 05 Bears will also tell you Jake can light it up in the playoffs
