Whether he gets a hc job won't necessarily have anything to do with his playcalling ability. It is about whether he is the next Matt Rhule and can build a culture and and motivate his coaches and team.  Lots of great OCs became middling to poor head coaches. The jobs are different and actually require somewhat different mindsets. With the perceived success of Matt Rhule so far early, teams will be looking for Brady to share those values and abilities as much as they value his football skills.

He seems to be adjusting based on what’s working and what players are available. Started calling more down field throws when CMC went out to open lanes for Chuba and Royce. Called a beautiful zone read where Sam walked right into the end zone because teams kept stopping our runs up the middle. Honestly if he had a better line to work with I think we would be more impressed, but I’m sure you can say that for half the OCs in the league.

This is true, but one thing any team looking at Brady for HC should consider (but probably won't): much of Rhule's culture is built around his personal charisma, which is not replicatable and which Brady does not seem to carry anything resembling. Players buy into Rhule's program due in no small part in his ability to sell himself and the program. That is a skill set that it remains to be seen whether Brady possesses.

He's learning while on the job, and it shows (particularly in the red zone). 

I can see his potential to be good--maybe even great, but he's nowhere near that yet, and I don't think he'd be such the big loss as some think. I just don't see it. Why? Because I see more fluid play calling all the time while watching other games. And sometimes it's not about being cute, but being effective, particularly when you're trying to score touchdowns near the goal line. He's getting it though.

Exactly. If they bring in Brady for a HC job are they liking how he leads others or who he can bring with him. Will he have his own culture and ways of building a team or is a poor man's Rhule without the charisma. Those kind of issues will determine whether he gets a HC job or should. If an owner picks the next young talent just because of the Xs and Os hoping for the next Sean McVay might be disappointed that not everyone buys into a 32 year old head coach with 2 years total experience in the league.

Without a doubt he's a top end coordinator. He's having to scheme around a garbage OLine, whereas our D doesn't have such a glaring weakness to deal with.

And still manages to put guys in advantageous situations all day long. The rare times you see otherwise it's forced due to a combination of down, distance, field position and game situation.

I'm hoping we keep him for as long as possible before we lose him to a HC gig (which I think is all but inevitable).

If Darnold continues on this pace, Brady will get credit for his career resurrection and teams will be lining up to poach him and hope he can develop a franchise QB for them too. Steve Wilks was hired as a HC after an extremely underwhelming year as a DC... There is a decent chance we lose Brady to a HC opportunity after this season, as ridiculous as that may sound to many here.

Likely. When it comes to head coaches owners miss more than they hit it seems always wanting the next wunderkind.

His short yardage/red zone play calling needs some work.  The Tremble call against the Texans and the QB keepers with Darnold shows that he's evolving.  Between the 20's, he pretty darn good, but I still need to see the Texans short yardage play calling wasn't a fluke and he continues to be imaginative in that regard.
