I disagree that the whole team was in shock.

The offensive game plan was thrown out the window when McCaffrey went down. It took halftime for Brady and co to regroup. 

I think the defence got tired at the end of the half and Snow went ultra conservative for some reason - which is baffling because he dialed back up the pressure / man coverage AFTER he lost his best CB.

I think Darnold is doing quite well so far, as he continues to win me over more and more with each game to this point.   I just hope he pays attention to his peripheral vision, with the incoming sacks.  He has to protect that ball better.  Incoming defenses will study him and will perceive that this is a weakness, and we can expect them to exploit it with constant swatting of the ball.  Hopefully it was a one game thing and Darnold will adjust accordingly.   But I applaud how he has fared so far with this suspect offensive line.  He can scramble and make some good throws for sure.  I am hoping that this line will continue to improve in a hurry and that they will protect our QB, and also help out blocking for our run game, especially with this CMC injury.

Find a way to beat the Cowboys without Horn or CMC and a trash oline, and I’ll consider us and Sam legit.

There was an element of both IMO. There was a shot of Burris on the bench after CMC went out and he looked like his dog had just been put down. Lots of heads hanging and then they proceeded to get carved up by mills

We all knew that coming into the season that, at best, the Oline would be serviceable. It's the next thing to fix in this rebuild project - I'm sure Rhule and Fitterer are very aware of that. Rome wasn't built in a day. 

That's true.  IMO, our coaches and management are too "in" with the trending playing styles, roster structures, modern building and scheming to not see it.  They got low investments FAs that fit their mold this year.  Erving can be okay, but there were just no adequate longer term ones really available so quickly grabbed the ones that fit.  And we didn't find ourselves in position to find a guy we liked until trading up to pick 70 for Brady. 

Takes time. 

Get 3 of 5 on the OL that are above average to top-10 linemen, and you're in a good spot and it's what I hope we can find next if Darnold looks to be working out. We've got 1, who just had a bad game.  But a good to great center and guard could do us wonders even if LT is just average.

I was into the Darnold thing from the very beginning, and tbh he has exceeded my expectations a great deal already. I was expecting him to be "fine", and he's playing "good" LOL Let's keep that trajectory cuz I really feel like he's not going to slack on working on himself either.

A couple of years ago the Jets played Dallas in NJ.  They beat them because Sam played the way he did last night.  he is very capable IF he gets adequate coaching which I think he is now finally getting. Do you all agree?  BTW who is QB coach?

IMHO, he is playing better then anytime with the Jets, i.e., moving around the pocket, awareness has improved (but still needs work), doesn't have happy feet (I mean a lot of the throws last night he had good mechanics [which is something he still needs to work on... but he is improving]).

gents, this is a work in progress.  he never got the coaching he has now (that is a fact) and I can see the difference in is confidence (which was pretty shot in NY) and that he believes again... that is significant.  He will get better, you can see it, because the scheme fits him so well and the OC seem to know how to use his ability to throw on the run.   

I for one m glad he is doing well, he is a class act and a leader.  Give him time to be coached up and you will not be disappointed!

Cos those two tweets basically amount to "poo I thought he'd be crap, I need to credit everything else but Darnold to save face".
