Dwayne Jarrett

My gosh, the double standards around here are abso-freakin'-lutely ridiculous. Jake gets a pass because he has proven it, regardless of his body of work over the last 16 or so games. A guy that hasn't had a chance to prove doesn't get a pass because he is unproven.

Jake hasn't developed chemistry with Jarrett after 2+ years, and let me just guess. That's all Jarrett's fault.

If one play (Jarrett's drop) determines what sort of chance a player should get, Jake should have been on the bench after his multiple INT day against Jacksonville in 2003. that is the same sort of logic that some is this thread are using.

What a freakin' crock some opinions on this board are!!!

Since when does Jake get a "pass" on anything? He is the most criticized Panther on the team and it's not even a close race. Hell, most Panthers fans blamed Jake for that pass that Jarrett lost in the lights, and some were even blaming him for D.Wills fumble in that Saints game.

I am talking from specific posters, not a generalization. Some people specifically give Jake a pass, but the same people hold Jarrett's drop against. So much for pulling for the entire team, huh?

If by "pulling for the entire team" you mean that Jake is the only one that's to blame for our losses, then I guess you're right, the biggest Jake haters are definitely team players.

Anyway, I haven't given up on Jarrett by any means, and I was impressed by his effort on the play people are talking about, but 55 is right. The Panthers don't want to throw the ball more than about 20-25 times in any game, which means that Jarrett is only going to get so many chances. It's not because the coaching staff refuses to give him a chance as some claim, or that Jake refuses to throw to anybody not named Smith or Moose, it's just the reality of being the 3rd WR on a running team....especially a team that also has pretty good receiving TE's and RB's.

And Jarrett damn sure should have had that bomb in the Saints game, that's a perfectly legitimate criticism, just like it's fair to criticize D. Will for fumbling and dropping that TD pass that hit him in the hands.

im sorry, you dont throw a ball like that to your rb.a wr yeah but not a rb.they are not use to catching in those situations.

BS, they HAVE to catch in those situations, in fact thats why he was running a route, so he could catch a ball if the oppertunity presented itself. Whats supposed to happen there? Jake looks at an open D.Will and has to get the ball out fast but decides not to because its a RB out there? No way dude, Jake made a good throw right at D.WIll and he missed the catch thats it, as an NFL player if you are thrown the ball and it hits you in the chest it has to be a catch no matter if you are a WR,TE,RB or FB.

Are you for real? That may have been a hard throw, but D. Will is a pro, and his coaches and teammates expect him to make that play. In fact, I guarantee you that D. Will himself would be the first one to tell you he should have made that play.

Jarrett is only a great player until he gets extended playing time. Then all the people who are clamoring for him to get an opportunity now will be ready to lynch Fox and Hurney for ever drafting him in the first place.

I believe it goes down like this. People who are smarter, more talented, more informed, and more experienced at selecting starters than everyone on this board's history combined have decided that Jarrett is not worth playing as much as people here want him to. Case closed.

This is true...but there reasoning needs to be looked at.that is Fox loves the vets to the point were he will play them past there prime over a rookie or a young guy like jarrett.

This is a myth too. Did you not see that Tyrell Sutton started at FB in the biggest game of the year in New Orleans? Did you also miss that Kenny Moore has already gotten a shot at playing WR, even though he hasn't been here as long as Jarrett? Don't be surprised if Charly Martin gets a shot on offense too. Hell, look at how much playing time Munnerlynn is getting already, even though he was only a 7th round pick. If they earn it, they will play.

And you're right to a point also. He'll play them past their prime so long as a better option is unavailable. Moose past his prime is still better than Jarrett entering his.

If we had drafted Steve Smith instead of Dwayne Jarrett, I'm betting Moose would be playing in Proehl's old role. But right now he's got better hands than Jarrett and certainly blocks better in the running game. He's not the greatest out there, but he's the second best guy available. And I drank the Jarrett kool-aid until this year. Now I think Moore is more likely to be our next number two.
