i'm with you on what jarret showed in the one catch he had. he seems to do that a lot.

i think his usage in sunday's game has a lot to do with the no-huddle that i've seen discussed in a lot of accounts of the game. jake talked about how both moose and smitty are able to work out of the split end and flanker positions in the no huddle, because they've both been doing it so much.

one of these days we're going to have to throw to jarret more than 2 times a game, just to see if we can't luck into a TD or 80 yards or something along those lines.

How about the play where the ball just went right through his hands? That showed me a lot of ball that he didn't possess...

Smitty lost one in the lights during the same game. Can't argue w/ the fact when he is thrown to he catches at a higher rate than any other WR in Carolina.

Throw it to this guy more often.

That play where he refused to go down showed a lot of strength that I didn't know he possessed.

does one play really say anything? smith got handled by some falcons cb on a one on one (think it was houston) are we gonna sit here and say smith is weak and lacks strength?

i think we need to use 3 receivers though, tight ends and fullbacks get too much action in our offense

I think you kind of made both points. 1 bad play doesn't say much, just as one good play doesn't say much. Which is why he needs more reps.

Jarrett- 17 targets- 2 drops- 66% completion rate-26.7% first downs

Moose- 49 targets- 1 drop- 61% competion rate- 36.7% first downs

Technically Jarrett has caught a higher percentage than Moose but as for lack of drops, first down percentages and impact in the game- Moose is much better. I will take his 30 catches over Jarrett's 9 anyday especially given the higher first down percentages You would expect it the other way around given that Jarrett comes in on third down and almost all throws to him are an attempt to get a first down.

And no I don't think that Jarrett would keep that high of a percentage if he played more often.

too much thinking involved. Dont know if you dont try

jarrett or any other WR not named smith or moose has no shot of doing anything as long as jake is behind center and calling the plays.

That is because Moose and Smitty have earned it. Quarterbacks need chemistry with their wide receivers and Jarrrett likely doesn't have it yet with Jake. You can't fault your quarterback because he throws to guys who have shown they come through when needed instead of a new guy who is largely unproven.

If you only throw 20-25 times a game and he is the fourth or fifth receiver and you throw to tight ends and backs as well, how many targets do you actually think he should get??

my point was, people are being critical of the guy, and he hasn't played much, which isn't his fault. Thats all im saying.

    • What's wrong with what he wants to do? Going to the wrong organization can ruin your career. Many of you would do the same if you could dor your son's.
    • I think they should just end the drama and tell him he's playing for his next team. Full stop. This week to week "do they, don't they", "will they, won't they" stuff is crazy.  Maybe Shanahan will trade one of their 3rds for him rather than pay Purdy the big dollars--he's certainly on the list of coaches I think would say, "They're just not using him right". Plus Lynch already knows the Panthers' price list. Bryce can head back home to California and Carolina can continue its neverending quest to replace Cam.
