X-Factor in Thursday's game isn't Double Trouble.

X factor is us not giving up 350 return yards to Ted Ginn. Our special teams are the scariest aspect of our team....again.

So is it me or did Lloyd finally start kicking everything into the endzone during the Falcons game? Before that game I remember seeing a lot of kicks being caught on the goal line. Probably due to the injury he had. The Falcons kickoff man was blasting every one of his well into the endzone, maybe he didn't want to be shown up. Either way, touchbacks on kickoffs are gold for this team.

Jake should be considered the x-factor in every game
Crazy thing is, as a head coach, do you game plan for a bad Jake or a stable Jake? Do you let Jake be bad and go all out against the run or plan on a stable Jake and a mix the D up? Lots of ways to play it against "The Most Unpredictable QB in the NFL". I should copyright it, cause it's true. With 7 games left I think we are going to see a lot more of it.

You gameplan for both and you make adjustments based on how he comes out. If he comes out on target you open up the playbook. If he comes out inaccurate you dial it back and give him high percentage short passes in an effort to calm him down and build his confidence. Going to the no-huddle was an attempt to get him comfortable in an offense in which he typically excels.

I was actually referring to the problem of opposing DC's planning for our Offense. How long will the 8 man box be thrown against us when it's being handled with a decent Jake performance?

They will have a gameplan as well based on down distance and past tendencies. They will also look at our offensive sets and adjust accordingly. The as the game unfolds they will make adjustments based on what we are doing. Like a chessmatch you prepare for al possibilities and then move and countermove as you go along.

Or at least that is what they should be doing. Lets be honest. You plan for Jake for to be good and if he isn't, it just makes it easier. As for what they will do? Count on them loading the box like they did before and blitzing alot. I expect we will actually come out and throw quite a bit to back them out of it.

I would think you have to be surprised that he has done well lately. After all the negative things you have said, I would expect that you are pretty disappointed he has done better and Moore isn't in there.

Oh that's right no matter how he plays, it won't be good and only the prelude to the next disaster. I hope you have to wait for awhile. But then I root for the Panthers no matter who is playing.

please.....

I don't flip flop week to week. It is a proven fact that you can't give too many reps to Jake.....he isn't that type of QB and NEVER has been. We have not won a game this year when he attempts 30 passes and his career numbers are horrible when he throws 30 times. If you put the game on Jake he will either lose you the game or be ineffective........2 games with a limited role and 1 fairly decent game against a horrible Atlanta defense changes nothing. Asking Jake to run a 2 minute drill at the END and get you a score is not the same thing as putting a complete game on him....put a game on Jake and you can consider it a loss.

Just recognizing reality isn't rooting against the Panthers.

Do you consider that a bad thing, though? I mean, do you consider it a bad thing for Jake to be that type of QB?

I'd rather have a "mediocre" QB versus an "elite" QB (do not confuse elite with "star"). Why? Because a QB passes the ball, nothing more, nothing less; QB + RB + OL + WR + TE + FB = Offense.
