Just put Brown and Christensen on the right and don't look back. Just block your man.

They may indeed be the most talented guys we have, but are they ready?

If they're not, putting them in now could be equally disastrous. More so if it affects their development.

There is no history.

This is their first rodeo.

They may be good at it or not, but the fact that Marty Hurney and Ron Rivera sucked will have no bearing on it.

Rhule has had two off seasons now. You don't get to magically wipe those away just because he has a new GM, especially if it's true that he has a huge say on roster decisions.

If the current braintrust won't learn from the mistakes that the old ones made, then yes, that has a huge bearing on any success the new guys will have.

Rhule/Hurney had last offseason, and given Marty's deficiencies it went surprisingly well.

Now it's Rhule/Fitterer.

The Cam Newton mess, bringing in Teddy B with that contract, and their decisions leading to another losing season all happened that first offseason. I wouldn't say it went surprisingly well at all.

That might be true, but a wise person considers context. A first offseason and draft is a first offseason and draft where the Panthers were in the middle of a transition (during a pandemic, no less). Any reasonable person will give Rhule a little benefit of doubt and grace if things didn't go too well, which some did and some didn't. This offseason was his second opportunity, and at least on paper I'd say that it's a marked improvement upon the first. Hopefully the season follows suit, not that the first one was a complete disaster. All that said, it's still ONLY his second one, so a wise man considers that there will still be mistakes, though hopefully less mistakes (but honestly there is never perfection), while realizing that patience is necessary for essentially what is and was a massive rebuild under foot.

I'm guessing you predicted Jimmy Johnson's career was gonna be sh-t after his first season too.

(just one of many examples that could be used here)

As to our last offseason, coming away from the draft with three quality starters was a pretty good foundation.

Is Rhule/Fitterer going to be a success? Don't know. And neither do you.

But what I do know is that what and how their predecessors did doesn't matter.

All correct.

Actually classic Marty Hurney is thinking what you're doing is great and will pay off in spades while everyone else is looking at you perplexed. It's been ten years of this through two different GM's. We are hoping a similar approach will yield us different results in the short term. There is nothing unreasonable about that observation.

Besides both being white men there's nothing similar about Fitterer (and Rhule) and Hurney.

A wise man also considers you take the good with the bad and can't erase the past. Other first time coaches had the same issues Rhule did. He wasn't the only one, so doesn't get a pass. Life doesn't work that way, especially in a results business like the NFL.

You're correct in that there is never perfection and that hopefully these guys make less mistakes. That said, they have to prove that they will make less mistakes with their actions. It's too early to truly know, but early results show that it's a mixed bag.

The average oline rank for literally the last 10 years is…..

18.

The average rank of the last 4-6 teams left in the NFL come playoffs in the past 20 years is….

like 5.

There is a reason people freak out about it. Nothing is worse except a bad defense.

don’t tell him that. football fans are only supposed to know the bare minimum!

we’re supposed to act shocked when the season starts and jordan gross isn’t at left tackle.

BTW great idea right? Get everyone ready for football then 1st bye of the year a no NFL weekend.

The o-line will have a quick hook if things go wrong. They seen Brady can play 4 spots decent. And Daley has been ok in spot duty

Did I say Rhule was going to be crap as an NFL coach? I never hinted at such a thing.

You don't know that those guys will be three quality starters. You think they will be because of early results. That said, like every other draft, it takes a few years to know for sure.

Never claimed that I know if they will be a success. That is projection on your part.

You claim that what Rhule and Fitterer's predecessors did doesn't matter, yet you bring up Johnson as historical proof that you're in the right. Doesn't work that way. What Johnson did doesn't matter to what Rhule and Co will do since what their predecessors did doesn't matter. You can't have it both ways.😉

What does matter is that Rhule was half of a leadership team that produced bad results(a losing season since this in the NFL along with some player issues). Rhule doesn't get a magical do over just because his first partner has been replaced. He not only needs to learn from his mistakes, but also those his predecessors made.

    • The other draft picks have turned out pretty well. Brooks will too.
    • I'm still not touching Hunter He again said the other day that he plans on playing both sides of the ball in the NFL.  If he is allowed to do that, he won't be as good on either side as his potential and he's going to have serious injury issues and have a short career.  If he's not allowed to do it, I think he's going to become a problem when the team isn't winning as he's going to feel him not being used on both sides of the ball is why. He's being coddled in that environment with Deion and I think it's doing a disservice to him to prepare him for life in the NFL where your coach isn't a 2nd father to you, to where you can just walk into his locker room and steal his shoes like Hunter does to Deion.
    • He’s a tad behind them. Around 15ish of 32 starters in the league. He’s well ahead of a lot of guys. Tua, Bryce, Cousins (present), Rodgers (current), Devito/Jones, Minshew, Russ (current), Watson, Smith, Carr, T Laws deep ball is weak as poo IMO, there’s plenty. And it’s not like everyone is ripping 60+ers. The key component is if you can rip and maintain velocity of the 30-40 yarders which he does super well. Legit every report out there from Brugler to PFF to PFN document him as good/above average arm strength.  Eye test tells me it’s pretty much that as well, slightly above average.
