I don’t understand releasing Melvin. It would be good to have him on reserve as a vet presence in case we have an injury, but things could have went down behind the scenes to cause the release that we don’t know about esp with open positions on the practice squad already

Lol, who are we now? The Patriots? IF we were to do something so lame I'd at least hope it was a player from a conference rival or at least a team not named the Jets! What do we need to know? They haven't a WR or RB and they are starting a rookie QB. Whatever their playbook is, I highly doubt they will be able to run half of it.

4th round pick? Not bad. I have to wonder if this is good news for Darnold, hear me out. If Darnold has been really good in practice and looks like a different player here then maybe we signed Morgan because we think New York is just so bad that there could be another decent qb on their roster that the staff wasn’t using correctly?

I posted a link in another thread yesterday...Jets wanted to keep him on their practice squad.  He chose to come here.  Darnold is familiar with him.
