Cam Newton Released

NGL, between that other idiot claiming Cam was distracted by rap music, and now Ninkovich saying crap like this...  there's a very, very large elephant in the room that has been present on the periphery throughout Cam's career while he was here...  difference is, New England just doesn't care to throw a tablecloth over it to try to disguise it.  In fact, they flaunt the elephant.

Those former Patriot players and their fans wanted Mac, and it had very little to do with their abilities on the field.  And we all know why.

I agree with this. We've heard the same shitty narrative from people outside orgs about Cam his entire career.  Surprisingly the shitty narrative is the same one applied to most QBs with his skin color.  Who would have thought?

The idea Cam can't pick up a playbook is bullshit. To the extent that QBs help each other learn, sure. The idea that Jones walks in and teaches cam the playbook? Bullshit.

100%

Also if Cam was such a numbskull. Why wasn’t Luke Keuchly picking him off in practice non stop? Since he’s a the alleged GOAT super computer of MLBs.

We have heard out of Cam's own mouth that he has trouble learning playbooks. But yes, its just racism.

It certainly was.  He used and abused him for his own gain.  He never had newtons best interests in mind ever.  When Newton was used up Ron could not hide his crappy coaching any longer.  That is a fact.

While I do agree with this common thought in some ways, the main thing Rivera did is not protect Cam from himself.  Cam always had a physical battering ram style that from his rookie year caused people to be worried about his career longevity.  Honestly that is the main thing that made Cam so special.   The problem is all of his major strengths (giant arm, not crazy fast but pretty fast for a qb but very big)  were the ones that fade the fastest and his weaknesses (timing, touch, sometimes accuracy) were what you have to live on later in your career.   I think it was evident from his first season on that there was a chance that he wasn't going to be potentially great for long.

These guys are already in Mac Jones will 100% be another exact duplicate of Brady and with this they think automatic SB and undefeated season going all the way.

Maybe there is an "elephant" in the room or maybe the former patriots player who has been around the locker room knows more than we do about what is going on in the locker room in NE.  Which is a much more complicated offense than we ran.  This is why everything with Cam is so divisive.   You can see negatives in a player without there having to be an "elephant" in the room.  Do those "elephants" exist?  Of course they do, but you can say negative things about a player or you could think it wasnt the best move to give Cam a giant contract in the shape he was in a couple years ago and not be an "f150".

As long as Cam isn't with the Panthers theres going to be a pretty decent percentage of fans who are going to keep up with him.  He was our 1st #1 pick, he led us to a 15-1 season that had him as an MVP and got us to a Super Bowl. He was the face of the franchise and has had a major impact on our organization so it's weird that people get so butthurt when he's brought up.

I mean if football forums were around in Montana's era I'm sure San Fran Fans wouldn't stop talking about him once he went to KC. I'm pretty sure that Pats fans still bring up Brady more than we do Cam. When you have a player like that who is no longer playing for their original team these conversations will continue to happen until they retire.

Its kinda funny when people are dumbfounded everytime he's brought up.

Montanna won four Super Bowls.

In the realm of criticism it's low hanging fruit and should be considered such the same as baseless assertions about intellect or work ethic. There were assertions made about Sam Darnold in these areas and they were quickly shut down rightly so.

That's the thing with looking at something with biased glasses on. It makes grander views that much harder.

Cam is used up and has washed out of the Patriots system. He may still be a serviceable QB somewhere but he wasn't going to play #2 over there this season and we all knew that.

Yea Montanna led the team to their pinnacle of success, as did Cam. Although Montana's/ 49ers success was greater than what Cam/ Panthers achieved fact remains he was the QB of our team during the most successful season we've ever had.

Thanks for proving my point.

    • At this rate, maybe he'll be a decent 8-9 QB on his 3rd HC by year 6. Standards are so low around here now. Tepper has done some serious damage to the fan base.
