Joey Slye - I thought you looked cool with your swole arms and tats and you had so much potential to kick super long FGs for this team.

So it didn’t work out here on the Panthers but I GUARANTEE you will get another chance probably on the Bears or something. Look at what happened to Graham Gano - dude got cut from the Redskins and everyone was calling him OH NO GANO because he sucked. Then he got another chance fixed his sh*t and became one of the best kickers in the NFL.

Keep your head up, get your confidence back and go be a good kicker for another team and prove the Panthers were wrong and that’s all you can do.

It’s be one thing if Smith was speaking for himself but it’s almost seems like he’s relishing Slye’s yips. just feels wrong from an official Panthers announcer. Everyone can see it, no reason to rub it in.

I hope he'll fix his yips elsewhere but I'm glad we tired of waiting for that to happen here. All the leg in the world but he just can't stop slicing it. It's between his ears. As soon as he gets in a bad head space, that ball is sailing wide right.

It's a brutal league. Love the kid, but we can't keep waiting for him to fix it. A year off to go get himself right might be exactly what he needs. Hope he gets it right and goes onto have a nice career with another team.

But I legit do hope he can bounce back elsewhere. It was pretty obvious to me tonight that he's well liked by the guys in the locker room. Probably a real solid dude.

I'm sure Smitty's commentary was not as soft as the Panthers would have liked it to be, but I don't think Smitty was trying to be just mean there.

I think he's keeping it real about how physically and mentally abusive this violent sport that we all enjoy, can be

The fact that he pushes EVERY kick right points to something mechanical, but I can't spot it.  Shame the Panthers coaches couldn't either.

He said for the guy to go to a 24 hr store and get boxes and tape. To reserve the service elevator at The Vue. 89 wasn’t being subtle lol

One of the best legs I have ever seen but just can’t get his accuracy down.

For the record Slye’s first two years are on par with the first two years of some of the best kickers in the league.

It’s matter of if he can get it together or not and if anyone wants to give home the chance and more importantly the time which is a huge ask/risk for the kicker position.

I think we need someone more reliable even if they have absolutely no chance at making a 60 yarder.
