Use one of our thousand day 3 picks on him pls.

He honestly might go higher than day 3. The dude has hit multiple 80 yard punts, one of which I watched live and nearly sh*t  myself.  Not only that, but he's athletic and also handling kicking duties... he punts and kicks at the same time. That is very rarely done. Isn't quite as good of a kicker, but still impressive.

Okay, so I'm watching this punter live rn and he really is the college punter GOAT. He has an insane leg and he can do directional.

Ever since @beo pointed him out I've been eager to get to watch him play outside of the insane clips.

@Verge Have you seen this monster Matt Araiza kick the absolute sin out of the ball? Any teams' draft boards that you could see him creeping up on? 😮

Having a punter that good is actually a huge advantage as it almost automatically gives you the field position edge in every game.

That said, taking a punter (even Ray Guy 2.0) before the 5th or 6th round is a luxury pick we can't afford to make. That said, we did draft a fuging long snapper last year so you never know.

I can see some playoff team with a stacked roster and few needs taking him in the 2nd or 3rd round.

He's pretty athletic for a punter too.

Araiza, whose four tackles this season leads Aztecs special teams, becomes amped at the opportunity to shake stereotypes.

“I saw everyone’s reaction (to the Utah tackle) on film,” Araiza said. “In the moment I couldn’t see it, but our sideline erupted. That was awesome. I saw the returner was tripped up a bit and I had a full-speed shot, so I took it.”

Part of the reason Araiza provides a legitimate extra defender on returns is because of his athletic ability.

Araiza set freshman and sophomore track records in hurdles at Rancho Bernardo. He also played as a striker in soccer (of course), before focusing on football. College Football News, for context, deemed Araiza the Aztecs’ fifth-best offensive player.

He’s already been adopted by another unit.

“We claim him on the defensive side,” McDonald said. “… Matt’s going to punt it like 60 yards, then he’s going to go down and tackle them. Him flying down, making tackles adds energy to the whole team.

The whole 1 top 100 pick thing really stings in general for this draft. I think picking him around in the 4th or 5th could be justified if we had any picks but we don't. Our offense doesn't look particularly potent either, so having a punter like that could help us quite a bit more than other teams for better or worse. It's a hard pick to make when you have no 2nd or 3rd and need 4/5 spots on the o-line.

Hope we consider trading down or find some picks somewhere.

Raiders will take him in the first round.
