Sam has all of the weapons and he has all of the arm strength and arm talent as almost any qb in the league. His problem is in-between the ears. He was never effectively coached in NY and as a result he made mistakes.

Were those mistakes because of not being taught how to avoid those situations? Or was it because of football iq and not understanding the Xs and Os of the playbook? Our offensive staff is hopeing it was a coaching issue and not mental.

Also he 'feels ghosts' which is mental trauma due to being hit too much because of a bad offensive line so now he has happy feet and is more likely to make mistakes instead of holding the ball long enough to let plays develop downfeild. I hope I am wrong, but so far our Oline looks pretty bad and might not be much of an improvement for him feel safer in the pocket.

Both of these issues can be helped with proper coaching, but it also will take alot of mental fortitude to overcome his tendencies and trust his team to protect him from threats that he might not see coming from behind. It is a longshot but I hope he can improve his game and rectify his mistakes.

InB4 Captain obvious lol

Playbook?

Jets had no Playbook.

They had ADAM GASE, for crying out loud.

Most of Darnold's problems came when nothing was there. When it was he usually was spot on. But when the play was broken and he had no one to throw too he just tried to make something happen. That was the problem and that's why we brought him here. Because of that experience, he developed some bad habits which our staff is trying to fix but he has it. Darnold is going to be the comeback player of the year and will only keep improving with time. We will finally have a real franchise QB. Just give it time and you'll see.

    • His size will always limit him.  Do t kid yourself
    • When a team has EXPECTATIONS you have to show them that your fandom and praise is EARNED.  People would be mad if the they lost two one goal competitive games like 2023 but they wouldn't have gotten booed out of the building because the effort and competitiveness would be there but to lose in THAT fashion at home with your entire top line going free lance and saying fug this yeahhh.
    • Well with back to back road games to open the season again we really can't afford a "slow start" at least not for the psyche of the fanbase that is already at rock bottom from years of losing. I think that will depend on our approach to preseason this go around. But I do agree the makings of a culture change could be big for us. At the same time we heard talk of this last year and then we got the doors blown off multiple times. I can agree with you it's best to try to maintain perspective until we get closer to the midway point of the season. The main things I want to see early on even if we aren't necessarily winning is spark and toughness from the offense and defense and at least keeping games close.
