Grier or PJ

I don't think that's the case at all.  PJ against the Colts was throwing consistently inconsistent.  Against a #1 defense those throws are INTs.  Just like his performance against Detroit last year.

PJ has a cannon and I love the zip on his throws but if they are that far off target those are picks against a good defense.

Grier, when given time to throw, throws a much better pass.

It's about 50/50 here.  Don't hate because 100% is not behind PJ.

I still believe we bring in a veteran to back up Darnold and Grier will be #3.

once again, grier is throwing check downs and screens, 99% of the time. I thought the huddle was against that? remember teddy bridgewater? or is it different now? PJ Walker gets the ball downfield to score, Grier doesn't.

Did you hear Rhule's comments about receivers not getting separation.  You would rather Grier to throw into coverage for a possible interception?  Or do what the defense is giving you.  There is a difference between not throwing deep to a open target, ie Bridgewater, and throwing into coverage for an incomplete or interception.

PJ's TD was intended for a different receiver.   It just happened that Tremble came across and stole it.   Had Tremble not been in the right place at the right time.  That pass is picked off or incomplete because it was not on target.   Please don't make it sound as if he was targeting Tremble.  They even commented on who the pass was initially for.

I got pooped all over when I said this last week

Can actually mean a lot more than likes given the context. Notoriously stupid people on here.

I was saying last week that PJ might could be a backup level guy but he his accuracy is like Teebow

The only thing that PJ brings to the table better than Grier is his ability to extend plays with his feet but his accuracy can offset that ability.

It actually was, it was going straight to Omar, who beat his man, Tremble actually did come from nowhere, but great awareness on his part. And to PJ's credit, he created it. So the only TD, that happened all preseason, is because PJ used a lil Russell improvisation.

All Will showed is he's a better option than Darnold was for the second drive, I mean it was starting on our side of the field.

PJ didn't want to checkdown, because it's contagious, plus it's the preseason why not get more deep ball reps in.

He was beat but the ball was behind him and would have been picked off or incomplete.  PJ got lucky.  PJs shot to Shi Smith against the Colts that would be considered deep.  Grier's shot to Marshall was considered deep against Ravens.

I noticed you didn't recognize the comment about receivers not getting separation against Ravens.  That's being smart and not forcing things.   The difference for Grier is.  He has the arm to make those throws. TB5 didn't.

Grier looked more like a reasonable backup compared to PJ.  Grier did better than PJ with the same squads.

That said, I'd still rather have a veteran signed to backup Darnold but who I would choose would be Grier.

He's a QB with a comp percentage in the 50s. I'm not sure what you judge as good but its generous.

I was comparing their differences in college. Yeah it was in the 50s but Grier’s was 65.

The entire point is that PJ is not better than Grier nor has he ever been. Also not saying neither is good, but that Grier is better than PJ.

PJ has a job because Rhule needs pets. He is the Brentin Bersin of the Rhule era.

I vote Grier. He's more accurate,  and seems to have better chemistry with our skilled players.

As much as it pains me to say this but I  tend to agree.   If the choice is JJ Walker or Grizzly Adam's I suppose I'll have to take the fuzzy.

Grier

17/24 175 7.3 ypp

Walker

9/29 169 1 TD 5.8 ypp

Bridgewater

16/19 179 2TD 8.4 ypp

Grier is better by every measure except TDs.

Also, throwing Teddy in there, starting to believe it might be the offense.

And that is why PJ will make the team and Will Grier will be cut. It really has nothing to do with the ability to fill in for long term, but who the coach is most familiar with. That sucks for Grier and is disappointing because I was happy with the way he played on Saturday.
