Postgame thoughts. Preseason game 2

- Darnold only played good honestly in his limited time.  Showed much much better fundamentals.  Nice pass to Robby.  In the end zone, he didn’t try to force something when the WRs couldn’t get open and made the smart play of just getting the ball out.

- 1st team WRs struggled to get open.  A little shocked but Robby and DJ were nicked up.

- Defense played well minus a few gashes in the run game.

- Grier did play much better with the 2nd team.  May be a bigger competition for the 2nd string QB than we think.  And if it’s close, we may end up keeping 3.

Main thoughts are:

• Rhule and Fitterer aren't going to have any sleepless nights cutting this roster down to 53
• We should trade for Jose Borregales to get ahead of everyone else on the waiver wire
• We should look to trade for a backup QB / hope to god somebody good gets cut

They ran like 2 pass plays in the first series. one complete, one incomplete, running game looked decent. Just need to be able to get one yard to finish the drive. 2nd half team is atrocious, but it is a young team so I expect that to get cleaned up next year.

Darnold had like 4 seconds staring down Robby for his one completed pass, hardly worth anything evaluation wise

Seemed to me they played 3rd and 4th stringers significant more time tonight.  Probably cuz starters will play a lot next game.
