Where is my overreaction? Not running new plays in preseason is very different than just missing kick after kick.

Where was mine? I only spoke facts. Running an effective play during preseason games doesn't mean you're showing your entire hand, I'd settle for 1/2 a finger. My point is: running a play that moves the ball and or scores in the redzone during preseason is checking if it worked against other defenses other than ours. This is one the basic purposes of preseason games. A perfect time to try a play or two you like. Our redzone execution was terrible in 2020.

Most teams run nothing but vanilla play calls during the preseason. Teams have tape on what we did. We run the stuff in practice and can see if it works.
