Let's not forget...

Scott Fitterer is getting plenty of praise for the job he's doing right now - and he probably deserves it - but let's not forget one of his coworkers is working behind the scenes as well.

Dan Morgan wasn't around for the draft or the bigger part or our free agency moves (he came aboard in May) but you can bet he's in the mix for any and all evaluations that are being done now.

My expectation next season is that Morgan will have a big voice in free agency since his background is predominantly in the pro personnel department while Fitterer is a longtime college scout.

Mind you, that's assuming he doesn't get a GM job before that. And while I certainly don't begrudge him career advancement, I'd really like to keep him around for a while so here's hoping that particular promotion is still a year or two away.

You are very much correct.  He has not reached his full potential with the Panthers.  He may stick around until he becomes GM for the Panthers.

I'd be pretty happy about that.

It'd really suck ass if he got a GM job next year because he wasn't here for the meaty part of our offseason. We'll only have had him for basically part of one year.

But sad to say, that's a possibility.
