He was drafted by the Jets to be their franchise QB.  He played poorly.  They moved on from him.    To date, he is a bust. That is a fact.  It is an opinion that he can be salvaged and it’s ALL the Jets

Just for the record I’m one of those people that are higher on Darnold than Fields factoring in the different price tag for each

I’ll pull for them in season just like I did Kyle Allen.  Just like I did for Teddy and PJ.     But the Carolina Panthers need a QB.  It’s a QB league.  And I’ll continue to pull for them to solve that glaring need.

If Sam flops, we move on. If Fields flops. It hampers us for years. I would rather wait until the right QB comes along if Sam fails.

Just wanted to point out that we'll pay Darnold roughly the same amount next year that Fields will make over the next four. The possibility of landing a quality QB on a rookie contract was one of the reasons I wanted Fields. I get it, that would've also meant foregoing Horn too, but from a salary cap perspective Fields is gonna be a lot cheaper over the next 4-5 years than Darnold will be.

Sam is a bigger cap hit to us than Fields is to the Bears.

This isn’t the Sam Bradford era.  Rookie deals don’t cripple you if you miss.
