How much preseason time should Darnold play?

I think a quarter to a half each game.  I prefer a half, but after seeing how Rhule has handled TC and Fan Fest this year with an overabundance of caution, I doubt he gets anywhere close to that.

He needs live reps, and so does our OL.

I dont think the OL is as bad as many think they'll be...  if it means anything, I think this OL has a chance to be one of our best.

Man, everything I'm hearing about Darnold out of camp has severely dampened my excitement.

What did you hear and WHOM did you hear it from?

'Cause it sure as hell wasn't from the MAIN Sources 99% of us followed.... 🙄

Why? Everything out of camp has been excellent after he shook of the rust and pads went on

CanePantherHornet sounds like someone who stopped paying attention once he heard Sam was struggling that ONE practice and he's now using it as The Gospel.

It's pathetic.

The correct answer is as long as possible.

You're not evaluating Grier and Walker - you know exactly what they bring to the table.

Darnold and the #1s should be in as long as possible - that Oline needs extended snaps to gel.

A billion times THIS.

As much as possible.

On the one hand, the more reps he gets, the better he should be in the new system and we really need that to be the case.

On the other hand, if he does get hurt, we're likely looking at a high draft pick for a QB or LT. It's another year lost but I'd rather him get hurt preseason than halfway through the year and end up at pick 8-15 where we just miss out on the elite level talent.

And we miss an entire year of evaluating whether he can actually be the answer at QB. That would be a terrible scenario.

If he misses the entire year then I think the evaluation will be easy...find a new guy.

    • That’s a book of the great life that the Panthers have had. So great to look back on the great players and seasons that we have had. But I think the book could have been twice the size. We have had a good 30 years, up and down the standings. i know we are in a bad spot right now, but hopefully before long we will be climbing back towards that Super Bowl championship
    • LmAO ..it does not make any sense whatsoever why a team that is currently 2-0 would  trade their backup Qb to a team that is 0-2 & in the same NFC conference ? & what is Seattle going to do if Geno Smith is injured ? wouldn't a team that is  currently 2-0 & is quiet  possibly going to the playoffs  want a decent plan B that already knows how to operate their system & has some form of chemistry with their players  , like I said before this is the NFL &teams especially ones like Seattle  are NOT going to trade their backup Qb 2 games into the regular season...just saying
    • Yeah, I can see that happening, but my only thing is, whoever he goes to, it's going to be a bad team. Not a whole lot of difference between us and say Denver, Jax, the Giants or the Colts. Of course, we're probably worse, but not by that much. Manning would have to pick his poison.
