Wow.  More praise for Payton.  Mancrush much?

You think me acknowledging that makes me happy? I'm not carrying water for anyone until they show us they will show up and punch that zoolander fool in the mouth. You just can't handle anything but unanimous praise. Sorry that isn't how life works.

Then he gave 34M guaranteed(and a 3rd round comp pick) for a “bridge” QB? For what QB was he “bridging” the team to. That’s even worse than just mis-judging Teddy’s talent.

And the Saints didn’t trade Teddy. He was a FA. Don’t let facts get in the way of a good rant.

Is that the same guy who said the Packers were being managed for the benefit of their "stockholders"..?

Or was that someone else who was simply making it up on the fly?

It's ok.  There's no need to hide your feelings.  Let em out frank.

How did the Panthers look with Teddy chumming it up with his old pals on the sideline while we were getting trounced late in the game? You can drink all the koolaid you want but this mgmt has a lot to prove in '21 and it begins with a revenge tour.

@beo truth hurts huh?

The truth has nothing to do with your post, although it's pretty funny that a reaction on a message board would make you respond in such a way. I poo'd because a large part of this fanbase in general has this odd obsession with the Saints to an unhealthy degree. Do you really think that Sean Payton sits in his office all day conjuring up ways to screw over the Panthers? I truthfully wonder if half of you don't just view him as some sort of mustache twirling cartoon super villain.

I remember whenever we beat them last that there was some theory that they had rested our starters just to fug our draft position. Not saying you said this, but it's a strange phenomenon for a team that has less winning seasons since our inception than many 2nd place teams do in other divisions.

They're champions. The Bucs are champs. Even the Falcons almost won it all before us. If there is an odd obsession anyone has in this fanbase of a team without back to back winning seasons it's getting back to the big game and bringing a title to the Carolinas. If inconvenient truths hit you in the feels it's because you hate to admit it. The Saints and Bucs are the teams to beat if we want to return to league relevancy and contention. Is sitting around singing our own praises and ignoring faults going to get us anywhere in the short or long term? If you find solace in the best current teams in our division being awful half a century ago I guess slow clap for you. Some of us want more.

Rhule didn't win in college with great QB play.    He has never relied on it.  Two years into his NFL career he appears to be sticking with his same formula.  Prioritize defense

If he hadn't,  I'd have to assume he doesn't know how to build a winner.

Well, there have been reports that draft jockeying directly related to the Saints and Panthers have been a thing! Regardless of whether you want to acknowledge it, human nature as opposed to just business, at least on their part, seems to have played a part in their dealings.

https://www.google.com/amp/s/profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2020/04/30/saints-made-a-spite-trade-to-draft-a-fourth-quarterback/amp/

https://www.si.com/nfl/saints/news/saints-stevens-payton-trolls-panthers-nfl

And call it all business if you want, but if there hadn't been some serious gamesmanship on our part, then Terrace Marshall would be a Saint.

https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2021/05/08/panthers-drafted-terrace-marshall-at-no-59-after-hearing-saints-wanted-him-at-no-60/

If you think it doesn't feel good to Payton to screw us, and for us to effectively screw them, then you don't quite know how the world works.

And, by the way, fug the Saints!

Why, because he began with defense?

You have to build a winner situationally, point, blank and period!

You can't be so dogmatic about philosophies and theories that you miss the forest for the trees! That's how Gettleman did things. Hurney may have tried to build situationally, but he was god-awful at it on the personnel side (outside of the first round).

some huddlers: Its Rhule's fault!

This is just silly. Matt Rhule has maybe a handful of consistent critics here at any given moment usually. It's not even in the same ballpark as the nuclear fallout the mention of Rivera's name brought here on a regular basis. Most by an overwhelming margin want to see what he can do this season. If it is more of the same there will be questions like any other sport or any other coach. I do not expect that to be the case though. He hasn't looked haggard in front of the media lately because he is taking any of this lightly.

Honestly man I had just woke up and felt a little grouchy when I reacted; I didn't read the rest of the conversation up to that point so I'll just own it because I clearly misunderstood most of the conversation seeing as I was vehemently against the move to sign Teddy even when it happened and almost nothing you've said here in this response applies to my beliefs.

    • The bottom lines to me are that a) we played well enough to beat the best team in the league and b) Bryce Young is growing into a bridge QB role (his ceiling) for us. As much as I don't want BY around after the season, it seems DC can still build the O with a game manager at QB for now. Best case scanario, we can build the D through the draft this year and take a QB we have conviction outside the 1st this or next draft. If BY keeps improving, we are going to win a couple more games this year.
    • Bryce has been a completely different QB since coming back. That started in Denver where it was obviously he was playing a lot more loose and willing to push the ball downfield  Bryce continues to build off of the previous weeks performance and that’s what you want to see Bryce has been making some real good anticipation throws. Reading defenses well. Pushing the ball downfield (7 throws of 20+ air yards yesterday. 8 if you want to include PI to Thielen). The deep ball accuracy has been there. Some of Young’s best throws yesterday were incompletions. Sideline balls to XL and Moore both should’ve been caught. RZ dot to Tremble should’ve been caught. And another RZ ball to Moore that Young gave him a chance at. Bryce is starting to execute Canales offense and yesterday Canales finally opened it up a bit. Canales was to blame for the 126 passing yards in Germany as he played a more conservative game.  The next bit I’m looking for his for Young to be a bit more decisive with running the ball. Start putting that on film and it’ll help open things up a tad
    • This KC team isn't the juggernaut it once was.  How many one score games have they won this season?  How many of those one score wins would probably have been loses if Mahomes wasn't the QB?  Their secondary is vulnerable and it was obvious today.  Grandpa Thielen was able to get open at will all game long. Bryce played well, but thinking this is the exact same KC defense Young was able to move the ball against as last year isn't going to compute.  Last year's KC defense was #2 overall.  They have regressed. I've said it before, Bryce can move the ball before the red zone, but once there, he struggles.  He is not a threat with his legs and the passing windows get much tighter.  He's not turning the ball over, so that is a great place to start and build upon.  I still question much better he can get.  Beyond a game manager?  I highly doubt it.
